  1. Hi Folks, i made some experiments with super 8 and wanted to do a music vid for a band i know. so i did :) i used a nizo 6080 and one roll in an older nizo. Films were 500T 200T and 64T from kodak with a HD telecine done with flashscanHD. we also used a digicam with a fisheye lens. so my video is a combination with s8 and digital. i done the editing my self, so its not perfect :D i would like to hear your comments on that! (some of the S8 scenes have some strange gamma overload and look milky. seems done by vimeo :/
  2. addition: it never ever has been serviced since it was build (30 years old). the problem is, that many 6080 in the US are the last production (i read) and not of good quality. here in germany the 6080 is perfect. the only problem mine has: i broke the viewfinder. i have to guess by my self if its sharp. :/
  3. i have the nizo 6080 for 2 years now. i already filmed about 8 rolls with it. its very silent and reliable. no problems, perfect German engineering ;) here you see some footage with a HD scan and one roll 64T: (please note: the "jumping image" at the start is not from the cam! i worked on the tripod.
  4. he is right. but in this case i have to work with what i got. where i live its not so easy to get a daylight lamp. afaik. also i think this kind of colors would suit quite well for the short. thank you guys for the help!
  5. ok, if that is everything i have to do, will do so :) there will be a professional telecine and a digital cut, so we could correct it there. i just was unsure if the colours could be corrected, or if they are completely green / yellow or something. the light colour of the lamps is 3400 K
  6. Hi Folks. I liked the 64T a lot. I am planning to do an Indoor Film project this month. I have some 500T Vision 3 Super8 and some 100D as well as an Nizo 6080 along other nizos (900). i have some experience with the 500T indoors. but none with the 100D. there are 3 1000K watt lamps in my equipment as well. Please can someone give me some advice how i can get the best result with the 100D indoors? i dont want to use a filter because then it would be ASA 25 and that is too dark. does anyone have some footage of 100D indoors with artificial light? didnt found something online.   7. quite good filming and stuff. but sorry, nexttime when you do a poser hip hop RNB video, get hotter chicks and cars. dont make videos like "me too". you can do better as i can see.

  11. i have heard this telecine thing would be good: http://www.moviestuff.tv/mi_scan8_hd.html but quite expensive... :) but professional stuff like the Flashscan HD is even more.
  12. hm, maybe i will test this thing next month. but only in daylight with an bigger asa filmspeed. but first i have to figure out how to connect it to the nizo 6080 lens with converters...

Hey Matt, thank you for the answer. i found that vid on youtube from a guy that used a dof adapter:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH3ctZBcqjI but since i got a nizo 6080 connecting one looks hard and if i would need some rails to hold a large adapter. but i have seen several videos with 35mm adapter experimentes an the pictures had some nice "artistic" touch. i liked that :) but maybe zooming in would do it as well in certain circumstances.

  15. hey robert. i would recommend you to use the ultra wide lens 3 for the nizo 6080. you can also crop the picture afterwards to get "16:9". i would not recommend modifying the camera. if youre not an exptert it is very likely to damage it. use the UWL :-)
  16. hey, i guess you have generally a different view on things. but this is not a reason to offend me. generally i think you have more the "professional" view on 8mm. but for people not beeing professionals a normal cam would do. i knew when i wrote buing a beaulieu as a frist cam ist not a sooo good idea would draw some "attention". but anyway, stillt the point: buy a cam that you will realy need. everything else is not effextive (from a businessman point of view). "Wow, you make it sound as if I am truing to push a Beaulieu in his mouth while he is screaming "Noooo!!!" It isn´t quite so." sorry if you got this perception. but i didnt intend to do so. kind regards.

  18. http://screenshot-berlin.de/ i can realy recommend. they have also a flashscanHD device. they were featured in the mag "schmalfilm". they did some professional work for franka potente and more. they are also very friendly :-)
  19. hey there. realy? you still have to bring up the money to buy it. i guess not everyone has 600 bucks ready to use for just an experiment, even if you can sell it afterwards for the same amount. also a bealieu is maybe more difficult for many people to use as a simple one. also a bealieu dont make you a better beginner as e.g. a cheap nizo. look at youtube and type in bealieu super8. crappy film test done that dont look better than a 5 bucks cam (yes yes i know also many good :-). also the cam can go broke while you use it. then the money is no more... you learn driving not in an aston martin, you will learn it in an small car. i did it that way. first i used an old cam of my dad to make experiments to see if i like it and for what i can use the material i will shoot. then i bought a better cam which i needet für my special purposes. i needed a silent one, because of planned voice recordings. also, what if you dont want to have the kind of footage the beau delivers? what if you want some more "crappy" for the effect? i cant reccomend someone to buy a camera without knowing for what he needs this. or do you use a hasselblad for vacation pics? anyway it is not the filmcamera making the movie, it the filmmaker ;-)

Hey, maybe someone already mentioned it. but you should ask yourself clearly what do you want to film with that camera. 1. indoors or outdoors? 2. night or day? 3. fast movements? 4. for what do you use the material? projection? digitalisation? (this may affect the framerate (look for pulldown 2:3 etc.)) 5. Do you just want to try it out? Then buy a cheap cam that can use the Eckta 64T. be carefull on fleamarkets many cams for 5 bucks cant read 64T. 6. In what country do you live? i have read from people in the USA who payed a lot for a nizo. i payd für mine 6080 perfect running contition with loads of equipment, syncmodule, UWL3 etc etc only 150 Bucks (euros). 7. what kind of telecine you want to do? DYI? professional with negative stock? 8. dont expect too much from your first vid ;-) 9. buying a bealieu as your first cam makes no sense. its like buying the most expensive snowboard while you dont know how to use it... did this help? btw. there are a lot camera buying tutorials out there. ask your friend google.
  21. hey, i am not the experienced nizo user (i have a 6080), but for me it sounds like your camera will need an overhaul. if it has not been used for a long time the oil has been gone and dirt (maybe it dwelled for a long time on the attic) travelled inside it. i dont think you should open the nizo by yourself.... only if its ok for you to break it accidentally or you know what you are doing.
