  1. Thanks Walter The camera has the standard battery and so I'll look into an anton power pack. The main problem with running it from the plug in adaptor is that we are nowhere near a power supply. Has anyone got experience with invertors for car batteries? Or is there a cigarette socket adaptor made for this camera? Many thanks rob spence
  2. thanks Mitch and Will The 9 hours of continuous film is actually of a static scene with changing lighting effects for an artists project, she will then be subjecting the footage to various editing tricks. Hence the idea of recording straight to a hard drive or laptop. many thanks for your your help
  3. hi I need to video a scene for 9 hours non stop. Whats the best way to power the camera for so long. We'll be miles from any power source and we need silence for the sound recording so no generators can be used. Also whats the best way to capture footage directly to a hard drive ie can we go straight on a portable hard drive or do we have to use a laptop. Many thanks rob spence
  4. hi, does anyone know if an adaptor or support frame is needed when using wratten filters, they're much thinner and flexible than glass filters. Anyone used them? cheers rob spence
  5. Hi you can get adaptors, They have an external 3/8 inch thread and internal 1/4 inch thread. You screw it into your camera base and this reduces the thread size to 1/4 inch. They look like a small grommet. I have one and they are useful for emergecies. Cheers Rob
  6. Hi Jesus, Thats a great idea using paypal for 'donations' to the production, we'll be adding that soon. I checked out your website...how's progress...did you get fubding at all? Best of luck Rob Spence
  7. Hi Tim Partridge, Just to clarify things...Neill Marshall...writer, director and editor of Dog Soldiers and his producer Keith Bell aka Northmen Productions live and work from the North East of England, they gained private funding which was matched by grants from Luxembourg which is why it was mostly shot there ( posing as Scotland). The film was successfully sold which led to the funding of their next film...The Descent. All very impressive in my book. Cheers Rob Spence
  8. Thanks for the good luck Richard...any web info on your feature? Cheers Rob Spence
  9. Hi Phil, Script funding was via Northern Film and Media which is our regional UK Film Council board...I believe it's very difficult getting similar funding if you're in London because there are so many more boxes of criteria to tick...as you say blood from a stone. However NFM have no feature development cash like they have in the rest of the country...so you can essentially develop a script but not a film...I don't know why. So it's onto the funding mill...we're trying for more private funding now because I'd rather do a cheaper production than jump through too many of other peoples hoops and keep artistic integrity if possible. A film that went down the same route locally to us was Dog Soldiers, a horror movie, and went on to gross alot of money world wide...so it is possible to make money on low budgets ( sometimes!). We're shooting on super 16 as we own all the gear ...plus the feel is very apt for this subject matter...post is going to be down to what budget we have at the latter stages...we have avid express dv which is good for offline...and conform to a higher spec for TV copies, these will be used to sell the project to the next stage. If it goes to festival or theatre release then I see an HD transfer to 35mm ( unless HD projection hasn't taken a hold before we finish ! ). We have run the project past a couple of distibutors who think the project is a great idea...which is good for our market research at least. Cheers Rob Spence

Again Nathan many thanks, doesn't sound too bad, presumably the light trap can be marked with a sharp point and replaced in the original position ? By the way does silastic have another name ...I've never come across it in the Uk or is it just black silicone sealant, which I have come across. many thanks Rob Spence ps I thought americans said ass not arse!

    aaton mags

Hi all, One of my ltr 54 mags has a squeeky light-trap ( magazine M2334 ) ...I can highlight the problem by pulling old film stock through the trap so it must be a squeeky roller ...this makes it noisier than the other mags is it possible to cure this myself...I'm pretty good with mechanicals etc so I'm cofident to try. Cheers Rob Spence
  15. Thanks for all the great information guys... one more question for Nathan. One of my ltr 54 mags has a squeeky light-trap ( magazine M2334 ) which makes it noisier than the others is it possible to cure this myself...I'm pretty good with mechanicals etc so I'm cofident to try. Cheers Rob Spence
  16. Hi Nathan, Many thanks for your time on this. If i want to add a remote cable with a switch ...it should be wired to pin 8 ( start ) and presumably one of the plus 12vdc pins? Again thanks Rob Spence

  18. Thanks Nathan, Where can I get a wiring diagram for the start stop connections on the amphenol as I'd like to make up a remote cable ( and can you buy amphenol plugs? ) Cheers Rob Spence Nathan, Also can I power my video tap from the amphenol as it currently uses an external battery connection ( it's a pulnix aftermarket assist ) Cheers Rob pence
  19. Hello all, Can anyone tell me all of the uses the amphenol connector can be put to...many thanks- Rob
  20. Hi The video tap on my aaton ltr has stopped working...all of a sudden the picture went and all I have now is rolling lines. The tap has 3 adjustments ontop they are marked ,B,R...and 1....6 ( presumably 1 to 6). Before I start twiddling with them is anyone familiar with these controls on the Pulnix TMC-X. I am in the Uk and therefore on PAL system. ( ps it's not the monitor , I've tried it on 3 different ones ) Many thanks Rob Spence
  21. I have to say I think you have some good scenes here...I agree the girl in the reeds is a wonderful piece of imagery...it would be great to see a finished piece of narritave by you . I do agree that the music track is too light hearted for, what appears to be, some serious footage...but you could easily change that. Well done for getting something in the can.
  22. Fantastic result...and in such a short timeframe...well done.
  23. Well done ...it's very watchable and kept my interest...almost a 'Following' feel ...with colour. I don't think you would have achieved the mysterious feel by using video. Keep going.

    I'm worried

Hi Everyone, I'm in pre production with a first feature that I've written and am directing that I've been working on for two years...we're shooting on S16 with canon zooms 8-64mm zeiss primes etc so lenses are great)...what worries me is that I want to end up with a movie and not a made for tv looking feature. Any ideas on what that indefinable difference is anyone...or am I having last minute wobbles... Cheers Rob
