  1. are you talking about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snorricam
  2. Hi, I highly recommend getting your own gear, especially so that you can go out and just film and film, keeping filming learn the basics, I learnt allot through watching your own mistakes and improving, I do recommend taking up some classes to learn the basics, like 180 degree rule, rule of thirds etc. But teach your self the rest that's what i did. choosing camera's isn't easy. with your budget get a HDSLR, with accessories alone it run up to your budget really fast, they have problems but in terms of price vs quality highly acceptable.
  3. Panasonic AG-HSC1U Panasonic AG-HVX200 Sony CineAlta F23 Thomson VIPER FilmStream Camera :)
  4. Hi if you have any old film or film cans specifically Kodak SFX 200, please contact me
  5. thats crazy, I think they need to loose some of there waste of money operations, they make there bulk through printing services, equipment, film, chemicals and patents etc. loose all the other stuff focus on film that's what there good at, reduce the size of the company and they could keep going for a few more years. But lets face it when practicality overtakes the cost of nostalgia they cant afford to keep in business just because we love film you know., I've heard digital vs film too many time im getting sick of it, i personally love film but I can see the future is clearly not going to last. Move on a great cinematographer can make a masterpiece using any type of equipment he just has to know how to use it weather film or digital.
  6. Ive been thinking about it all day just imagine sticking a bolex motor on the side of that, and putting a 200ft mag on it hahaha if only, Lets just see if they release something even better next, that would be awesome.
  7. Great more RED problem's seriously, I like how on Alexa's site it says we don't play the "k" game referring to resolution, RED is simply the first people to make a "pro camera" for cheap that's all. I like how they've just thrown in as many Legal words they can think of, no doubt this was concocted by the REDUSERS Hurry up F65 ;)
  8. Hi Ive been wondering about this for a while if you don't believe me look up the two trailers, the blueish one is the first one i think. Anyways i saved sometime look at the link for side by side comparison the only thing i can think of is the print film, just goes to how much latitude film has. Any one know why the colors are so different I mean obviously there is such thing as color correction but why are the two trailers totally different and its not just that scene its through out. Even there's another trailer even different but cbf uploading. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/525/vlcsnap2012010221h14m19.jpg/ http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/543/64290110.jpg/
  9. In my opinion work in the highest possible workflow, until you finish try not to lower the image quality in anyway, Don't limit your footage for any future use, color space has caused a new problem for digital work-flows Depending on your settings just leave it at 25fps pal or 1080/25 rgb709. In terms of aspect ratio that's up to you really you will need to judge what looks aesthetically pleasing, If you can blowup the SD footage to get a 16:9 aspect ration go ahead, people wont notice to much between 16:9 and 2.35 See if any of that helps
  10. thanks Tim awesome share been waiting ages for this :)
  11. Martin, Would it work out cheaper tho to use a external recorder than buy a whole bunch more CF cards, Its probably looking not so, and yes over heating is a really annoying problem.
  12. Happy Holidays everyone, and thanks again for all your help, this is a great community :) @Peter J DeCrescenzo haha Happy Festivus Never realized Keith was a aussie as well derp
  13. Hi David yeah i considered that, probably the only work around would be shoot 2.35 possibly 1.85 not sure about the last one but I do like 2.35
  14. Hi I've started working long events with my 7d and I have 32 GB worth of CF cards and its still not enough especially i have a all day one coming up and i do not have the time to ingest my footage. off topic I've been really interested in trying to extract a 4:2:2 signal from the 7D for other uses, does any one know what the true chroma sample is from the hdmi feed, but my main question is can i just use a black magic hyper deck shuttle SSD to capture long duration of film instead of on CF cards,
  15. Hi Chris, ive actually read the article your talking of, its really insightful, especially to find cheap places to process and telecine Film, I love Super 35 but I think only for budget reason's I will have to go with 2perf, and yes it works out better shooting 2perf then super 16mm so that's cool.
  16. Hey guys what do you reckon of the quality of 2perf vs 3perf in terms of image quality and grain, because you save so much film, any hassles with shooting on 2perf that you have heard of, or experienced
  17. Respectfully i have to agree, why bother if its so hard, is the wrong attitude, we would all be shooting soaps then yuk
  18. can I ask why are you finishing onto a Digibeta,
  19. I though Philip Bloom would of already joined here lol, good to see you have. Its horrible what happened to you at RED, does any one think there talking bad about our forum on REDUSER just an thought??
  20. That's Interesting, I think this is the one, from the HDR one: http://magazine.creativecow.net/article/the-truth-about-2k-4k-the-future-of-pixels I know most people have read this article but if you haven't give it a read well worth it.
  21. Im not sure if Phil was saying this or i miss read it but that's a good point, why don't they spend a little extra money and make a great Digital camera why is every camera now for the semi-professorial league 10-20k cant they make one both, because back 5 years ago most Cinematographers usually just rented there camera's now you kind of have to own one to compete at least out of Hollywood, lower end or mid range market. But yeah imagine a True 4K or 5K camera full Chroma sampling, no bayer up scaling, even if it was a little more expensive like 60k. Seriously what is Panavision doing I love them but they must be shitting them selves I haven't heard a single word about development from them unless they plan to slack out again an "Panavise" the F65 (which actually looks really nice), what have they got for the future.
