Got one sitting in the shop. ( we are 99% still photo lighting i.e Strobes) Thinking geez- what a simple genius idea.. let's put a headlight in a garbage can. Anyone got an idea how old the Parcan lights are. Just curious.

Although verbal contacts are technically binding, actually enforcing one is damn near impossible. and as Tyler mentioned- 99% of the time when people don't pay- the money train has dried up- so there is NO money to go after. You can demand COD or take the risk of 30-60 day or longer if the word "magazine" is in the company name. Just had this conversation with a friend who got burned when Cimmaron went down- he still takes jobs 30-60 but has tightened up on the problem clients by being "Booked" whenever they call.

You could try out a Dynalite M1000 and head. Max power with 1 head you'll get 1/350 flash but that may be too bright and unfortunately with flash- as you lower the output the flash speed increases Min Power on the flash unit results in 1/3000. Probably need some ND for the flash heads. PPR in Atlanta rents them.

It is basically a patio umbrella with a Poly silk skin. If you just need shade then any patio umbrella with a joint to angle the top will work.

Stuart, when you make the booklights do you hang solids off the sides of the diff frame- making a giant softbox/chimera type of light? How do you control the spill or is there any?

There was shoot next door where they used a black material - not Duvetyne- to block off a window at the house. They rigged up speedrail and combos and it was about 12x20. I didn't get a chance to ask the grips. Sorta looked like black shower curtain type material- not as plastic though- and it appeared waterproof as they left it up overnight. Anyone know the correct name?

Might as well just look up some YouTube videos on "Cheap Lighting". Pick one you like.
