  1. I was asking if you see something strange in the pics as for what I know there is a missing part on the prism assembly... It seems that the field lens was removed during the Super 16 conversion... is it a normal procedure? I have not contacted Cameraspro as I don't know how many years ago the conversion has been made and in any case being in Italy any possible repair job would be expensive due to double shipping cost. I'm just interested to know what the fault is and how to solve the problem. The seller sent me some enlarged shot of a film shooted with this camera and thay looks superb... yes but what's happen between the shot and the postage to me..? Giorgio PS: forgot to mention an important detail: when I focus the groun glass with the finder diopter adjustment I can focus exactly the spots in the same way. when the GG is out of focus the spots are also out of focus, so I think they are definitely on the GG?
  2. I'm trying to understand in which case a spot in the viewfinder on a Bolex EBM will affect the film image. I've found a lot of infos on the web and they are all controversial. So, if the spots are on the reflex prism, will my film be affected? If the spots are due to the silver coating of the rhomboid prism, will the film be affected? Please, take a look at the pics below, there is something strange in your opinion...? Thanks Giorgio
  3. Uhmm...more I look in the finder and more I'm disappointed. Here just a couple of bad pics of what appears looking in the viewfinder. That's a very good job. what do you think seeing the pics? Giorgio
  4. Hi Jean-Louis, thanks for your tip. Could you please tell me in your opinion if this is the problem, how much I would spend to solve it? Also, can you tell me where the rhomboid prism if located exactly? Thanks Giorgio
  5. Hi all guys, finally I have received my new super16 camera. It's a Bolex EBM converted to super16 by Cameraspro. The camera is an NOS from Bolex and it has been converted by Cameraspro (time ago) that also did a complete check and re-lubicate the camera. The camera is in mint conditions, everything works as it should but... looking in the viefinder I can see horrible spots on the left side and some spots all over the reflex prism. I've try to clean the prism carefully without success, it seems that the spots are in the rear face of the prism or worst case, beteween the two glass. The spots seems like the etched surface of the prism has been deteriorated, Now my question is: can be some type of glue applicated during the conversion? How can I clean if it's possible? The seller told me that he wasn't aware of the problem and that maybe during the shipping some grease of the shutter might got very thin so some grease drops on the prism. To me this theory seems a non-sense... also because it cannot be cleaned up. What do you think? How much would be the price for a new prism or a repair job? Thanks Giorgio
  6. Hi, I'm Giorgio from Italy and I'm still waiting the pics of your camera....it's more than a month ago. G.
  7. Yes Robert, but I have only the U shaped and not any other flickering indicator. On the manual there is a pic and it seems like a little arrow moving up and down in the U..? Giorgio
  8. Hi Robert, thanks for your advice. I've tested the shutter, is running great and I can see the flickering in the viewfinder. I was speaking about the viewfinder flickering indicator on the glass, it's like a little arrow moving vertically, I don't have it in my viefinder image, there is only the lower "U"-shaped space where the indicator is supposed to be. The shuttter is working properly anyway. Giorgio
  9. HI, Uhmm I've shot two rolls of film to test the camera but reading the manual I have noticed that I've not any flicker indicator on the finder... The film has been exposed correctly, what it means? Thanks Giorgio
  10. Charlie, thanks so much for your post!! I can't fix the key but I've found a good one. Regarding the door opening problem I will try to see what I can do but seems that if the problem is what you say I need to find some spare parts for the job and I think it will not so easy... I have a manual for the camera but it's not complete, do you have a PDF full manual to email me? I let you know my progress... Ciao Giorgio
  11. Thanks guys, your help is fantastic! You are correct about the viewfinder/parallaz correction, I've try and it's ok, no damage. Also, there is something strange on the film compartement door, to open it I need to put the same force I need to open a truck bearing wheel... there is some other points of lubrification on the mechanism? BTW: does anyone can send me the owners manual /service manual for the camera? I love the 70 HR is a beauty. Thanks Giorgio
  12. HI Guys, finally I have received my 70 HR but sadly it goes damaged in transit.... some scratches and the winding crank broken in two parts so now I need to find a spare key.I have noticed also that the viewfinder is not correctly alligned (not parallel) to the camera body. Is it normal or It has been damaged too? I put a pics of the finder. Thanks for your help. Giorgio (the camera works great but I can't crank it at the moment)
  13. HI Guys, i've just received a Beaulieu 4008 ZMII. The camera is in beautiful conditions, everything works as it should, zoom, meter, motor etc.. The cell is very fast to response and I have a new battery for the camera but i have a little problem. Reading the manual I think I need to set the film speed on the dial against the green dot (shooting outdoor film). but my asa dial can't be rotate more than the 25 mark against the green dot if I try to go further to select the 50, 100 and higher speed it's blocked. It can be rotate in the other way as well but no chance to set the 200 and 400 asa speed against the green dot. What can be? It's a fault or I'm missing something? Thanks. Giorgio
  14. Hi guys, while I'm waiting my new Bolex EBM super16 camera I have bought a beautiful B&W 70 HR with a Pan Cinor zoom and 400ft magazine. There are no any source of parts here in Italy (Europe also I think..) so I'd like to ask you a little help as I need the following parts: closing plate for the camera, where the 400ft magazine attaches (I'm obliged to keep the big magazine mounted also for shooting 100ft daylight spool...) the little belt connecting the camera at the magazine drive sprockets, a 12/24v motor in good conditions. Does anyone know where I can find these parts in USA? Maybe Alan Gordon? I've seen also that Mediamaestro have a very good list of B&W camera and parts, any feedback about that site? Any help would be much appreciated, I love this camera it's a beauty! Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions. Giorgio
  15. HI guys, I've for sale a 3M 7080 super8 camera, it's the same as the Nalcom FTL 800. The camera is in perfect conditions and runs perfectly, the meter works great and the lens is perfect. Only problem is the motor zoom/button, it is no more working I don't know why. I think is an easy fix. Price reflect this so 50 Euro my asking price. Pics on request. Thaks Giorgio
  16. Ok, the Arri is gone...and I've ended buying the Bolex EBM Super16. I can't find a better deal for shooting super16, the camera is a NOS and has been converted and CLA by CamerasPro. It has been used to shoot 2 rolls of film only. I will see in the future if I will find a good 16Bl but for the moment I'm happy about my choice. Meanwhile I've bought also a Beauieu 4008 ZmII to shoot again some 8mm film. Thanks guys for your help. Giorgio
  17. ORDET by T. Dreyer The servant by J. Loosey These are awesome shootings Giorgio
  18. HI James, can you tell me the postage cost to Italy with Express Mail USPS for the KODAK TRI-X 7266 16mm 200ft - 2 sealed 100ft cans- $ 25 for both? Thanks. Giorgio
  19. Very interesting points or views here thanks again guys I'm still thinking about the choice and also found a NOS Bolex EBM converted to Super 16mm by Camerapro, it has been used for a couple of rolls and is in brand new condition, price would be around 850 Euro... without lens. Must I think about it? Giorgio
  20. Thanks guys for your advices. I'm planning to shoot only B&W negative film, Kodak 7222 or 7231 and I need a "walking" camera, easy to use also on the street. Sincerly I'm very tempted for the Arri and also I want to shoot some sound scenes so maybe it would be the best choice. But, there is something special about the Bolex camera to me, they are marvellous designed and fascinating. The only problem with the Bolex is the viewfinder, I know that is not so much brighter, 25% of light less, so do you think this will be a real problem shooting night scenes? How much would be a full service for the Bolex compared to the Arri? I'm in Italy so in case I can send the camera to Munich or to Switzreland to have the cameras serviced. Regarding the Scoopic, I know that is a great camera like the Eclair and the CP16 but they don't attract me very much, I don't know why... Finally and more important for me, starting with a fine working camera, does anyone can see the differences seeing a film shooted with the Bolex instead of Arri? I'm speaking about frame stabiity, lens quality and noise aside...sound recording. Giorgio
  21. HI all, I'm trying to choose my new 16mm camera and I'm very confused about what I've found on internet. The cost will be the same, 600 Euro and the two, options are the arri 16BL o the Bolex H16 EBM EL. I have no preferences about the two camera, each of them likes me very much but reading some articles on the web has only confusing me about the choice. So, seems that the Arri will be soon no more serviceable due to missing of spare parts and technician able to repair it and the Bolex is a very delicate and complex camera that needs to be serviced with regularity. Arii 16 a pro camera without disussion and the Bolex is a Consumer camera...it's right? I'm interesetd also to know any experiences about the lens quality and sharpness, Kern Vario 10-100 or Angenieux 12-1200 for the Arri. Which is the best lens overall? I need to make my choice within a couple of days. Please help. Thanks Giorgio
  22. Hi all, looking for a very good Arri 16BL with lens, mag, battery charger and cables. I need crystal motor to shoot sound or at least pulse generator. Any helps? Thanks Giorgio PS: a Beaulieu 2016 will be also good, and please don't offer me Eclair, Bolex and CP cameras.
  23. HI guys, looking for a 16mm editor viewer ( no flatbed) like the HKS or Zeiss Moviescop for editing before video transfer. I will deal only within Europe due to shipping cost. Thanks Giorgio
  24. HI all, my first post here. I'm living in Italy, I'm a pianist and I love photo and cinematography. I have a project for a short film with Kodak 7222 or Orwo UN 54 negative in my near future. I'm looking for a Arriflex 16BL or another 16mm camera as stupidily I have sold a near mint Beaulieu R16 el. some time ago... I have a couple of question about my project: I'm intrigued by 35mm film shooting and the Konvas camera is very interesting for me, cheap and good quality. Only, I don't know how much would be difficoult to find 35mm B&W (5222) short or long ends here in Europe, any help about that? Also, I'm a Large format shooter and I have a good experience in developing B&W films but if 16mm would not be a problem with a Lomo tank what about the 35mm in 400 ft reels? How can I develop these in my darkroom? There is a Pro tank or similar for such a long film? Last question is where I can find the Konvas 35m camera full manual in English. Thanks in advance for your help. Giorgio
