  1. Hi, ok i agree k/c is dead. I still cannot understand why everyone raves about the 100d, i have used it, i would like to see kodak release the stock in the super 8 format, but there are sharper 100 asa reversals out there. As for single 8, Retro Enterprises should be bringing out a fuji 100 stock, this stock will be sharper than e100d. imo, 100d is overrated!!
  2. Wittner already supply 100d in super 8 carts, why mess around loading your own?. J.Schwind, i believe still has double super 8 k40 on the shelf, why use a poor substitute (100d) when theirs a better stock available. The only beneifit (imo) with the ds-8 format was, not so long ago k25 was available in the format, by using using k25 you obtained unsurpassed super 8 images, something now lost forever.
  3. Hi, further to your question, could someone at the same time please advise which stock has the greater resolving power. Footage i have so far exposed with 100d appears softer than kodachrome. When my k/c stock runs out i wish to shoot either 100d or 7201, which ever stock is sharper.
  4. Hi, i have an st i planned to sell later this year ( actually when my kodachrome stock runs out ). Its my backup camera, price will be high as its in great shape. (around £600.00). PM if your interested. btw i am in the uk, shipping costs to the US are high.
  5. Me again, just removed the lens (6-70) from my 5008 ms, ran the camera and turned the power off so the shutter remains in the open position. Now i know nothing about sd8, but looking at the filter and path the image will take to get onto the emulsion, i can't see there is enough room to convert a 5008 to sd8. It is very tight for space. The gate may of been widen, but the image gets cropped by shutter/filter assembly before it reaches the image. Again i am no expert.
  6. Hi, could the answer be the filter has not been modified to accept the sd8 image, it is the only answer i can think of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. hi, nizo is quieter, i am not sure if the nizo can read the latestest filmstocks in auto mode, if it can that is a plus point. Only downside to the nizo is a belt inside the camera can stretch over time rendering the camera uselss. Make sure you film test the 4080 first or at least check the core drive and claw are working. Only downside to the bauer is it can only read 40 and 160 asa film, so all metering will have to be done manually, sometimes auto iris is usefull. imo the bauer is a better camera, well made, manual iris is fiddly to operate though. Bauer gets my vote.
  8. Hi, my bauer 715 went soft at around f2.8-1.4. I mean it went completely out of focus, so i guess the back focus was incorrectly set up. My previous 3 canon 1014xls and current 814xls went and go soft around f4-1.4. Current beaulieu 7008 with correctly set up 6-80 lens is a lot sharper than any previously mentioned camera, especially wide open. Beaulieu footage is excellent, canon footage in binable. I have seen nikon R10 k40 footage projected and the image quality was great, appeared sharper than 1014 footage of the same subject. I have found the best looking 64t images have been obtained thru the 6-80 lens. I wonder if this lens was set up for tunsgten film, k40 images via the 6-80 look great, yet 16mm k40 images via zeiss primes lack the warmth and vibrant colours!!!!!!
  9. Hi, here are a couple more suppliers of std 8 film. http://members.aol.com/Super8mm/JohnSchwind.html http://www.wittner-kinotechnik.de/katalog/...mm/d8_filmm.php Photoworld, 7a Victoria Street, Craig-Y-Don, Llandudno, Wales, LL30 1LQ. Telephone: 01492-871818
  10. Hi, sharpest super 8 cartridge footage i have so far acheived is with the leicina special with 10mm cinegon on k40 ( expect fuji 50 should yeild sharper images ), the 6-80 angenieux fitted to some beaulieus gives superb results, beats any canon, bauer, eumig, sankyo, chinon and elmo lens by miles. Sharpest super 8 images i have ever seen and acheived is thru a bolex double super 8 camera using k25 with switar primes.
  11. John, has a business case been put forward for the release of 100D in the super 8 format. 64T does not project well due to its high level of grain. Will kodak release 100d?, if so when?.
  12. Just wished kodak would put a more favourable filmstock in their cartridges, prefer to shoot film purchased direct from kodak, but at present they've done themselves no favours with 64t. Thankyou everyone for the replies. Andy
  13. Hi, thanks olly, btw, how do you send payment to Wittner? money transfers via natwest get a bit pricey. Andy
  14. Hi, i placed and paid for an order with GK for fuji 50 in super 8 and 16mm formats. That was in early may 2006, tried to contact them via email, but no replies. Is the outfit still trading? Anyone received any stock from GK since May 06. Andy

    Ancient Kodachrome

kodak will ship process paid 16mm to Dwaynes at no cost until 31 dec 2006, after that date, process paid k/c must be shipped directly to Dwaynes when processings costs must be meet by the sender. ( according to the press release and my call to the swiss lab) Process paid 16mm k40 has still not yet expired, i have pp 16mm k40 dated 9/2006, is this why kodak will ship t the US for free until dec 2006?.

Hi, i've shot 1995 fridge stored k25, currently using 1998 k25. Image quality is fine. If you choose to sell the k25, i will gladly pay good money for the film. Andy
  17. Hi, here is a list of uk still/35mm/vintage camera fairs, i must stress, there is usually very little cine, but sometimes you get lucky. http://www.calnecc.co.uk/whatson.htm last week a dealer was selling an elmo st160 or st600, cant remember, boxed, slightly used, but with original elmo lamp, which should indicate hardly any use!! Gate area was a bit dusty, would class the projector as mint minus. That was selling for £100.00, but you should be able to knock at least a tenner off. I picked up an elmo 912 editor, mint, for £10.00. Andy
  18. One of the top noris machines is/was the 342 stereo, 100 watt lamp, 11-30 1.1 schneider. Yes the beaulieu is a more desirable machine. But the rear sprung gate can be found on other projectors not just the 708. Depending on the beaulieu claw pull down, the noris has ( i may have this round the wrong way) a fast pull down/shutter arangement, this allows more lite to reach the screen, which is why the 100watt lamp noris machines are the brighest out there. I have never seen a brighter 100w lamp machine.
  19. Hi, go to a uk camera fair, get there early, sometimes you get lucky, average price for a eumig 610d mint is £10.00, i've seen them for ten times that amount on ebay. Remember most projectors only have 100 watt lighting, they look very dim next to a video projector. A projector that wont break the bank with good light output for 100watt lamp is a noris 110, noris special d, noris 332 or 342. Elmo st160 or eumig 810 are good projectors. Whats your budget??
  20. Hi, got very lucky and purchased a brand new boxed 7008 pro, along with the 7-56 beaulieu lens. I believe this particular lens was manufactured by chinon. Has anyone used a beaulieu with the 7-56 f1.4 lens, if so, how do you rate the lens?. Is it worth dumping the lens for the 6-70 or 6-80?. Just run a film thru the camera, now a waiting game, any input on the 7-56 would be greatly appreciated. Andy
  21. Hi, are you referring to the beaulieus rear sprung gate???. If so the noris range of projectors offerred this at a fraction of the cost. Noris are the most underrated of all the projectors, yes theyre cooling system was not the best, but you will not find a brighter 100w lamp projector. Recently picked up a GS1200, great machine built like a tank, but i still prefer my T610. I am sure the bauer light output is slightly better than the 200w elmo. (correct lamp is fitted to the elmo), both have f1.1 lenses. Schneider is much sharper than the elmo 1.1 lens. Side by side, elmo vs bauer, i prefer the bauer. Now the best projector i have for an edge to edge sharp picture, never having to refocus is the rear sprung gate noris 342 with 1.1 lens. Even the noris special d ( dual guage, silent) has the rear sprung gate, this projector gives the best standard 8 images i've seen projected, beating the eumig 810 and bauer t183 by miles!!!!!
  22. Hi, are you testing the camera with film?? could it be a dodgy/sticky cartridge. Are your batteries good?
  23. Hi, 16mm reversal E6 processing, contact Film and Photo Ltd, 13 Colville Rd, South Acton Ind Est, London, W3 8BL. Tel 020-8992-0037, my information was correct as of 15 months ago. Cost me around £130.00 for 400ft of 16mm 100D processing from the above outfit. Andy
  24. Hi, the dial above the ASA dial should be set to a round dot??? is it ? or is it on 'T'. T will illuminate the red lamp and keep the shutter open for a timed exposure (like bulb setting on a 35mm slr) upon pressing of the trigger, press the trigger release again and the lamp should go out.
  25. leicina special, unsurpassed super 8 images with 10mm cinegon, best image stability of all cameras i have ever messed with. I currently own both cameras you mention, 7008 with 6-80 gives amazing images, 7008 image is not as steady as the special. Focussing is easier with the beaulieu, dont like 7008 trigger release, feels like it could break any minute. Special is a quality camera, possibly the finest ever made, better exp range too, along with a much, much, much more accurate exposure meter, special wins by a mile. Also you cannot pull focus on the beaulieu at or near full zoom without some lens wobble, no problem with the special which has a proper bayonet mount.
