  1. 2 additional questions; Are there any B4 recommendations with minimum focus distance under a foot? I feel like the Canon J9x5,2 would be capable of that as it's wide, but just trying to make certain. Do any PL lens to B4 body converters exist? Having trouble finding them. I thought Robin's would be that however it was the reversal. Thank you, to all.
  2. What're you ditching that for? I might be looking.
  3. Which of those get the widest aperture? I always like to go wide just in case. Or is the nature of B4 always the same F stop?
  4. I'm pulling the trigger on this. There's a 30-day return policy so even if I hate it, no cash lost. Thanks.
  5. I've never bothered with those for DSLR, cause the cameras are always so light/tiny. One thing I'd do a lot is getting a big glossy magazine page, putting the DSLR screwed into a metal release plate on top and tug it along by the sides on a flat surface like carpet or counter top. Worked great on carpet and costed nothing for a dynamic angle.
  6. Haha I love how filthy half of these look. That last link you posted there is amazing if that head really was the pinnacle industry standard back in the day. Very tempted with it. Would that final link be able to SD-SDI out to an Atomos? I'm wishful because is says "digital" on the side. Thanks much
  7. Would would be the major difference in going straight to tape vs digitally recording output signal and then running final product onto tape? Does coloration vary depending on when the capture hits tape?
  8. One quick thing I could, not entirely suggest, but suggest to keep in mind, is the lighting consistency. The light in the back changing hues is an interesting idea, however between the 2 shots, the first comes off as a tad dark/ominous whereas the second has they key light brightening way more of the subject. I guess what I'm saying is "pick one". I prefer the lighting of the blue shot, gives the vibe of "paranormal" much better. The green had better framing, but the brightness is too bland for something of a darker subject matter.
  9. Just bought the new Canon 5D Mark Fuhrman, you guys gotta get this thing.

  10. I've seen those, but was hesitant because of Michael Rodin's "That DXC series camera on eBay was a cheap one for cable, corporate, etc, not used much on major networks" statement. Would outputting through the SD-SDI of a digital betacam not give me the look I'm searching for at all? Am I splitting hairs? I've never touched one of these things in my life and am completely in the dark lol.
  11. I've located 2 more Betacams which seem to be at reasonable prices. Could anyone give a "legit check" on if these models were respected in their respective eras, or if they'd be the wrong look I'm searching for? The first is a BetaCam SP http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-BetaCam-SP-Camera-Model-BVV-5-w-Case-Bundle-/272116868226?hash=item3f5b6de482:g:lnsAAOSwXshWqAle The second (Phil's point had me searching elsewhere) is a digital Betacam http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-DVW-709WS-Digital-Betacam-Camera-w-SD-SDI-out-w-Fuji-A17x7-8BDERM-M28-VF-/191560336795?hash=item2c99e2c59b:g:lPMAAOSwcwhVMCrJ Really want to thank everyone posting here again. Information for this era of technology is nearly non-existent. Suppose it was coming out before the blogosphere blew up.
  12. I have a few products I'm looking to clear out to upgrade. First is a Metabones Speedbooster EF to BMPCC, has both caps and hard case. Asking $460 + shipping Next is an Atomos Samurai Blade SDI recorder. Comes in carrying case, with all necessary accessories and a 240gb SSD. Asking $440 + shipping for that. Lastly, a set of Rokinon EF Primes in 35, 50, and 85. T1.5 All in original box with lens hoods and manuals. Asking $1100 + shipping Let me know if you need any details or photos of the items in question. Thanks for checking in.
  13. There's currently an eBay listing very similar to the image you posted. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sony-Betacam-DXC-637-PVV-3P-Va-300-CA-537-LC-637CP-Manuals-And-More-Bundle-/172415726636?hash=item2824c7342c:g:or4AAOSwXyVYJPhG In theory, could one output via the BNC to an Atomos recorder retaining the nice color and all? Thanks for the history on these.
  14. For a while, I've had the idea of creating some kind of video emulating the look of pre HDTV news cameras. Here is a sample video of what I'm talking about: Has anyone here worked for NBC or other major news outlets during this specific era 15 years ago? Could have more concrete answers. Thanks for your time.
  15. Well from some American actor's perspective, they'd get upset about jobs being "outsourced" I suppose. I'm not an actor but it personally bothers me when some British actors attempt the emulation of American dialect and it sounds fake. At that point, they aren't performing 100%.
  16. I'll punch up scripts for guys every now and then and the clients will keep hitting me with the phrase "smart comedy", "I like smart comedy". I just ignore it and tell them I'm in the business of "good comedy". However I've recently been trying to figure out what they mean (because I never get a clear cut answer). Some would assume it's lack of profanity, but the "1000 Good Clean Jokes" books are like grade school level thinking. Grade schoolers aren't smart. And I would assume something high brow needs to also be funny, so at that point it's just "smart words". Then I think, maybe the audience is required to be smart in the sense of having a lot of prerequisite knowledge on a variety of things. However if your jokes are based on knowledge that teeters on uncommon, no one will get them. If no one gets your jokes you essentially suck. What is SMART COMEDY, guys? What are some films which embody SMART COMEDY? Open discussion let's do it thanks.
  17. Not sure if you've gone through with it already, but try to keep the verbal exchange and file exchange done through non-archived methods to ensure it doesn't get back to you. I might sound like the CIA or something but I'm not sure of the lightness or severity of the situation.
  18. I can only assume, but the people here might be finding a piece with such a lack of info odd because generally when minimalist previews are released, it's for something with a lot of anticipation or iconic imagery. Star Wars/Rocky/Spiderman type stuff can get away with that. This may come off as rude, but the vast majority of media engaged people aren't counting down the days to your next video release. As they aren't with everyone else on this forum, which is why I don't see very many posters dropping stuff like this. You can only "tease" people with something they know they want to see. That's clout you gotta earn.
  19. Do you ever think you'll ever need to see "the talent" or their sister again? If not, don't worry about it. Let people come to you if they really need something. If you end up sending the video, swear Mr. Talent to secrecy.
  20. Did you compose the music in house? That feels like the thing carrying this short, which is fine if the editing utilizes it creatively. Also to Bill: If it isn't about Ali I think we'd both feel pretty ripped off, not sure if the football player was also stock footage.
  21. You have good vision with certain angles. A camera designed for video would benefit you. Did anyone else notice some jitters in the picture from 0:05 to 0:10?
  22. Has anyone found use in this camera? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1159879-REG/sony_dsc_rx100_mark_4_digital.html Obviously its features really dip into basic consumerism, however I can't think of another cost effective option which gets up to 1000fps. Could you ever see yourself using this on a quick job with low budget? Thanks for input.
