  1. I assume you meant the video will be recorded a week prior to being broadcast. :) What are you guys doing for lighting, sound? What about keying titles and subtitles? Will you be keying them live or will that be done in post? The center camera you described, is that on a remote head, or will there be an operator on it? At its simplest form with 3 cameras, you will be looking for 1 camera to keep a wide/master shot, with the other 2 getting close-ups / reaction shots. Its not hard to make it look good, but it requires good understanding and communication between you and the operators. All the best
  2. I noticed it in V for Vendetta as well. I considered that it may be a projection problem, but I couldn't see any spill-over outside or above the screen. It may have been a problem with projection, but it came across just looking like poor framing. I only noticed it in some shots. If it had been a projection issue, wouldn't the framing have looked off throughout the movie?
  3. I watched the movie this morning, and I enjoyed it. I liked the lighting, as someone else commented, its simplicity was nice. However I noticed several times during the movie that the framing felt a little top-heavy. It seemed that there wasn't enough headroom in some of the shots. (For example in some of the 2-shots with Jody Foster at the end of the movie) Did anyone else notice anything like that?
  4. Thats ridiculous, you can buy the updated GL2 for a quarter of that price!
  5. Your credits aren't about adding credibility to your statements, rather to establish your authority in making such assertions. That being said, everyone is entitled to any opinion they wish, however we can't all be right. cred·i·bil·i·ty n. 1. The quality, capability, or power to elicit belief Truth may or may not lie in your arguments, their credibility comes from you.
  6. No, but they might lend credibility to your statements. This is the root of your disagreement. Obviously not everyone subscribes to your eastern philosophy. You can not agree on the definition of art and therefore will not be able to agree on the definition of an artist! :P And having followed this thread, I can see that no one is going to be persuaded to change their opinion.
  7. Not sure.. If he's in America, probably not. My mob are through Brisbane Australia. "This can only be a gimmick to sell phones." Could be, Sony Erricson sponsered the phones. They are 2 megapix autofocus cameras. ... wonder how long he could record for... & how he did the transfer. I don't know of any post facilities that handle phones! :D It is supposed to be releasing around May... so maybe we'll see some frame grabs soon.
  8. [quote Kaganof is the first filmmaker to ever blow up digital video to 35mm film with his 1996 movie ?Wasted!? He seems to like pushing the envelope.
  9. (http://news.com.com/Have+a+cell+phone+Make+a+movie/2100-1026_3-6034506.html) "SMS Sugar Man was filmed with eight phone cameras over 11 days with three main characters for less than 1 million rand ($164,100). As well as traditional cinema screenings, the film will be beamed to cell phones in 30 three-minute episodes over the course of a month." I tried to edit the previous post.. but couldn't...
  10. Has anyone else seen this one? http://www.worldchanging.com/archives/004150.html What do you all think?
  11. All the best and let us know how it turns out.
  12. Well put Mr Mullen, I think you've hit the nail on the head!
  13. Hey thats probably why its on the 'Off Topic' board! :D
  14. That sounds awfully like a personal attack... rather pointless and it contributes absolutely NOTHING to the discussion at hand Personally I feel that this forum is a place for informal discussions and exchanges of ideas... so its not so important that the Queens English is spoken... just so long as people can be easily understood ;)
  15. This write up on B&H would seem to indicate that the 100BE (the most recent PAL model) supports 25P, 24P (2:3:3:2 pull-down) 30P and 50i. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller...list&sku=410501 I am not sure about the older models (100AE & 100E)
  16. Hi Am not familiar with the UK laws, but the main issue seems to be concern about counterfeiting. For use as props in productions, there is no reason why you can't use real money, or create something that looks similar. Just so long as no one can use your images to try and produce counterfeits.
  17. grease-proof paper isn't too bad, but it is flammable. BTW, whats up with the name?
  18. Hi, your question seems a bit too broad for anyone to really answer. How about making it a little more specific... Are there any particular projects you are working on at the moment?
  19. You would expect the operator to be keeping an eye on that and adjusting.
  20. There's a bit of a difference between knowing 'how lighting works', and being able to apply that knowledge...
  21. Thanks everyone, will give that a try. The tape in question is actually a broadcast master for a visitor information network, so I'm not sure how they will like the 'editing' that will result! Incidentally the tape is an old maxell brand 30min sp tape. I have had several of them break after sitting in the library for a while. They just seem more susceptible to breaking than the sony tapes.
  22. so no way at all to recover the footage?
  23. has anyone got any suggestions on repairing snapped tapes? I have a few snapped betacam tapes - including a client tape :( thankful for any help daniel
  24. hi, i have some old family movies that were shot on super-8 they are rather old now and some of them have picked up some dirt and mould. is there any way to restore or clean them, as I would be intending to transfer them to video later on? thanks in advance daniel
  25. yup, the camera described on the site has a power HAD while the UVW 100 I work with uses a hyper HAD. this gives it the same sensitivity as the DXC 637, even though the UVW 100 has a much noisier picture.
