  1. If there is one person in the world I wish I could take a portrait of its Nicole Kidman. It would be Hasselblad + 150mm C lens and Kodak Tri-X, making sure I have contrast in the shot and those eyes pop! Very much looking forward to watching this on the big screen. April 22nd more or less in my part of the world. Will either watch in the cinema in Gibraltar or across the frontier in Spain.
  2. Thanks for posting Jarin! So the Petsvals???? I also had to look up what DolbyVision is: Dolby Vision® is a stunning HDR imaging technology that brings extraordinary color, contrast, and brightness to the screen.
  3. Getting a Christopher Lambert 'Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan' (1984) vibe to the 'still' of the YouTube video!!!! I hope we can have a few 'anecdotes' from Jarin on this film soon.....like the super interesting Petzval lenses used!!!! Im really liking how Jarin pushes for new combinations of lenses and looks....in The Lighthouse he had some special filters made to go with the Double X stock he filmed with, inspired by Yousuf Karsh shot of Ernest Hemingway for example. Petzval portrait lens. The Petzval objective or Petzval lens is the first photographic portrait objective lens (with a 160mm focal length) in the history of photography.[1] It was developed by the German-Hungarian mathematics professor Joseph Petzval in 1840 in Vienna,[2] with technical advice provided by Peter Wilhelm Friedrich von Voigtländer [de]. The Voigtländer company went on to build the first Petzval lens in 1840 on behalf of Petzval, whereupon it became known throughout Europe.[2] Later, the optical instruments maker Carl Dietzler in Vienna also produced the Petzval lens.[2] I wonder if the Petsval lenses are the ones Lomography 'brought back' and have been 'housed' for cinema cameras.....

  5. Manu.....another epic!!! episode to end the season(?) with......must say after the 'peak' of what was happening going back to the 'loss of the father' chat they lost me there and my mind started to wander....I would have cut that short.....I could not wait for that scene to change.....but wow what a series.....looks soooooo good in that 500T especially
  6. And it’s just getting better and better……exquisite use of film stock…..latest episode season 2 episode 7 uses both Ektchrome and definitely the sublime 500T for sure…..and what a piece of directing and acting I am being blown away by this series…..you have to be a parent of teenager + and be 40+ to really really understand and get all this at a higher level…that’s my feelings……Im sure they referenced Felix the 13 year old boy that appeared on The Face magazine back in the day for the character of the kid drug dealer “Ashtray” played by Javon Walton
  7. Congratulations to him and great he called out his crew. I really enjoy his podcast and we share the same love for Man Utd football team but not his love for digital hahaha
  8. Re-celling is the only thing I will have to do if it comes to it haha. The adapter stuff costs more than my camera and I cant justify it. I am not a cinematographer.....
  9. Totally disagree...this last episode was epic.....
  10. Wow just saw Season 2 episode 5…..a masterclass in filmmaking and acting……wow
  11. I am wondering whether the original Aaton battery 'system' using 12 volts 1,4 Ah batteries on my XTR can be 'modified' to use more modern batteries that are easier to keep charged and whatever other 'better' performance we can get. I have a constant fear of my batteries becoming useless. Please supply options with links. Obviously the connection would be the same XLR style I imagine....
  12. Thanks for coming in on this......it's peculiar nobody else is commenting on this.....
  13. the cotton pickers shots are superb....note the grayscale.....unequaled in modern digital cameras.....i will argue with anyone all day and night about how film is soooooooooo different in B/W haha
  14. DaVinci Resolve is my fave....free version....and easy to get the hang of it.....I use it to easily ingest my DPX files from my 16mm film footage as sent by the lab I use in UK: Cinelab London
  15. watching season 1 as we speak.....I thin its a superb series.....gutsy.....great performances....highly recommended. To me its got the darkness and deviance of 'Eyes Wide Shut' by Kubrick.....I have not read or seen any reviews of it as we speak I wonder if anyone feels the same??
  16. Season 2 - Marcel Rév and the Director confirms shooting on Ektachrome 35mm, they wanted it to look like '5am, way past the point when everyone should have gone home" hahaha I will definitely watch this series as I recently subscribed to HBO Max for 4,50 euros a month offer from Spanish HBO Max.
  17. seems they started with Arri Alexa in Season 1 and then shot season 2 on 35mm with Arricam LT....
