  1. have you checked all of the rollers? I had a take-up roller that was stuck and it hindered the film movement
  2. if somebody can load a k3 in a changing bag they are the man because i had a hard time loading it by sight.. i guess practice makes perfect
  3. the 100 ft should have daylight spools on them I think. just put it in, feed about 2 feet out to thread through and on takeup reel. Run a little to make sure it is going through alright, and then close. I have a question.. the loops on my k3 jiggle like crazy. Is that ok? The pressure plate is supposed to straighten that out right? The movement seems to be good; Theres no deviation in the sprocket hole position as it leads out from behind the pressure plate during intermittant motion...
  4. the only problem with them is that they cost 1000 dollars+!
  5. to my understanding, you should just stop before the mechanics slow down and wind again
  6. what's the dB on the kinors?
  7. eclair NPR.. but they can require a lot of modifying
  8. I have a question about 2k scanning. are they able to scan edge to edge... perf holes included if desired?
  9. I have a question about lens collimation. If you focus your viewfinder on the groundglass, then you can focus your lens properly for the film plane, correct? Where does the collimation come in to play? It would seem that you could adjust for any abberations if your viewfinder is right.
  10. hunter, annie, hans.. thanks a lot! I can pay for shipping no problem.
  11. i'm in a small hick town in north carolina.. Thanks for the tip on visual products, I'll give them a call if i can't find anything else!
  12. I read a wired.com article on it and i thought it said that they used a panavision camera. Well it was a PanaSONIC camera, AG-DVX100 to be exact. I would've sworn it was made on film
  13. wow that looks great. Made for under 10,000 too!
  14. Thanks for that! Sorry for the ignorance, but what exactly is a slider? I'm amazed by the look of this film, even with the crappy quicktime movie, i would've easily taken it for being made in 35mm. I've strongly considered using either the canon or angenieux 12x zoom when/if i ever get my little movie going, so I'll definitely check this out, as you guys seemed to work those lenses to their full extent with amazing results.
  15. I'm not a big fan of soderbergh (although I really like The Limey). I just can't shake the opinion that this was all a big fat gimmick to forward his and mark cuban's name as the forefront of media marketing.
  16. You probably want to buy only an aaton that's been recently serviced. I've seen prices of 1000-2000 dollars just to service them. NPR's are aparently very inexpensive to service, but they can cost a lot to modify for your needs.. 1500-2000 as well. Not sure about the noise level. I've heard that they are very quiet but i've also heard that they are somewhat noisy, so I guess your mileage will vary.
  17. wow that looks awesome! what cameras/lenses were used?
  18. Soderbergh, simultaneous distribution, m night Shyamalan's disapproval.. discuss!
  19. I need to practice mag loading as well as practice the handling of film. Thanks
  20. lock stock 2 smoking barrels.. what was it shot with?
  21. I posted a couple months back about cleaning my lenses as safely as possible. I ended up getting pancro and a lens cloth, but it left cloth lint and streaked much of the oraganic residue across the element. I decided to use opti*clean if you've heard of it, but it hasn't been offered in the USA apart from really expensive 120 dollar 100mL offerings minimum. Anyhow the owner of the company that offers those large quantities has decided to offer 8mL bottles of it for about 30 dollars. It's amazing stuff, and it cleaned everything off my lens without having to do any sort of rubbing. Anyhow they're going to offer the opticlean (rebranded as first contact) in 8mL bottles for lens owners, so i wanted to give a shameless plug for them. http://www.opticlean.com/
  22. hmm I've heard it's the sharpest lens available for super16. Never heard about breathing/accuracy problems before however. Seems to be a good 95% type of lens. Dealer Price is about 10,000 dollars! http://www.cinematechnic.com/products/Ange..._115-138HR.html http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=7582676993 <--link to lens
  23. noticed that a guy's selling an angenieux 11.5-138mm lens on ebay. Has anybody ever used one?
