Sony A7S - LED light banding and flickering?
CRISTINA WOLF posted a topic in SonyHello- I am opening this question up to the pros because I am shooting a film with the Sony A7s and I planned to use the these TV simulation LED flickering lights. But the lights cause banding and video flicker. Is there a way to get a "clear scan" on the A7S camera? or a work around with the Shutter to get a clear or clearer image? Thanks! The A7s or the GH4?
Michael Lippi posted a topic in D-SLRI'm thinking about buying a camera at the end of the year. I've been assessing what I can afford and what's available. So far, I've narrowed it down to either the Panasonic GH4 or the Sony A7s. I like the GH4's native ability to shoot 4k but I'm concerned about the 4/3" sensor size. I'm impressed with the Sony A7s' shooting capability especially in low light but disappointed that shooting 4k requires an expensive peripheral. I'd appreciate any advice, opinions and first hand intel anyone can give me. If there's another camera system that anyone would recommend, by all means. Mind you I cannot afford anything that's over $5000. Thanks.
Sony FS7 & Sony A7S with a Shogun
Axel Morin posted a topic in SonyHello Guys, I am gonna start shooting a documentary next week and our main camera will be the PXW-FS7. I already check many topics, tests and other reviews. I first decided to shoot in 1920 X 1080 in S-LOG 3 / Gamut 3. Two reasons to that, first one being mobility and also wish to keep an good latitude for the grading at the director looking to a specific style. Here an example of the kind of footage we looking to end up with For some of the interview we will have a second camera which will be a Sony A7S. The Director already order a Shogun to go with it. As the A7S is capable of shooting in S-Log 2, I wonder: is the Shogun still relevant? And if I have to keep it, should I still set the camera in the Log mode? My worries are that the Shogun record only the under-expose, milky footage from the S-log but without the possibilities of grading which are suppose to come along with it. Then it is possible some day we will have to shoot with C100 but that will become an other problem. Thanks in advance for your answers All the best

A7S - External recording improvements in quality?
Alexander Christenson posted a topic in D-SLRHey all, On the verge of buying an A7s and coupling with an Atomos Blade or Shogun. I had a little play with the camera, but only recorded internally. I noticed, in gradations in shadows, flares, etc... some noticeable banding. The crunchy stuff. I understand it's 8-bit overall... but can someone help me understand how recording via 'uncompressed' HDMI out will improve the image? Isn't it basically H.264, wrapping in Sony's codec nonsense, which gets recorded internally? So going uncompressed -> 422 (at 1080 or 4K) is going to improve... what? Anything noticable? Thanks! Alex
