  1. I recently shot a superhero film and was looking for feedback on the lighting/camerawork When filming, I was going for the style of something like "The Boys" more of a gritty look. Let me know if you think it works or if there's anything that could've made it better. https://imgur.com/a/xKSn29I Specs for those interested: Lit with: Arri Skypanels s60-c Arrisun 1.2K 8x8 Silk Frame Shot on: RED Weapon 8K
  2. I’d love some feedback on a music video I did for my band recently. Part of the music video is a super-stylized noir look, and part of it has a glitchy electric computerized feel. Feel free to comment on the cinematography, VFX, or even the song. Let me know if you think this worked!
  3. Here's a short film I wrote/shot/directed. I'm primarily a writer/director, and I'm doing cinematography on my films out of necessity. Next step for me will be working with a cinematographer! But I'd love some general thoughts on this film, so I can take the feedback with me on my next project. The film takes place within a Skype video call window, and I'd call it a mystery/thriller. Let me know what you think!
  4. Hi everyone, so this is the first showreel i have produced that shows all my favourite imagery while working as a DP and/or Operator. I think i am still trying to develop my skills by taking on varied genres and ideas - using aspect ratio, lighting, composition and movement to tell stories. I would love to hear from cinematographers what you think of the work so far, as well as what constructive criticism you have to offer. Here's the link: https://vimeo.com/250899536 Best Wishes, Mat
  5. Hi guys, I would really like a fresh pair of eyes to take a look and give me some honest feedback. Got out of school in September. Thanks! Sraiyanti Haricharan
  6. Hey guys, just wondering if I could get a little feedback on my cinematography reel any comments are greatly appreciated, thanks. https://vimeo.com/77648972
  7. Hello there! FIRST OFF: WARNING; I am complete NOOB in this field so expect to see something really bad. I am just posting this to get some basic feedback on how to present myself on video (how I should stand, look into the camera, how I should move my face muscles when I speak and so forth), some lightning changes, editing changes, etc.,. My purpose of shooting video is appearing as a "spokesperson" (so yes, I am definitively wearing the wrong outfit). I will get better clothing, another mic instead of the one inside my camera and a complete white background since my camera has "wrong" color sampling 4:2:1 for using green screens (if I understand things correctly). I just wanted to try to shoot something and edit some in Adobe Premiere Pro CC to get some feeling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63vvsATq9U8 Film was shoot with: Canon LEGRIA HF G25 in Cinema Mode (a button you can choose; this one, auto or manual mode). I also used two softboxes which is why you see two shadows (and I added artifical lightning in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, just to play around). I added used "expander"-preset inside "Dynamics" which is an Audio Effect in Adobe Premiere Pro CC to cut away all background noise which the camera otherwise pick up. I'm deciding on whether to get a shotgun microphone or TRAM 50 lavalier. What are your suggestions? I am also curious on how to do with the lightning, how close or far away I should be with the camera so I can use the "rule of third" (standing in the middle just look like a poor mugshot if you ask me; my room is about 3,5 meters wide where I stand; yes I will shoot in my apartment). I will also get some simple lightning above my head so I can "pop out" of my, upcoming, white background. Feel free to give harsh but well-meant suggestions on what I can change 'till my next video besides the obvious clothing, hairstyle, added make-up and such. I am very excited to hear from you professionals and highly experienced film- and/or promotional video makers. And yes, you may laugh your butt off at my bad video! ;-) Take Care & Have An Awesome Day! / Max K.
  8. Hi all, First post here, thought I'd introduce myself. Having worked at a video production company in the UK for the past 5 years I've finally gone freelance as I'm looking to get more into shorts and gaining dp, 1ac, 2ac etc. experience. I know I'm at the very beginning but being 32 I'm not a spring chicken anymore. My first project is a self-initiated music video for an prog artist Crayola Lectern, shot on Epic and I was wondering if anyone had any constructive criticism on the piece? It's not fiction per se, being a music video, but I was aiming for a look which would work cinematically. All the rest of the technical info is on the Vimeo page but here's the video: https://vimeo.com/65640344 I know this has been answered in various posts by various people but I would like to get more experience on a set, either 1ac, 2ac (or dp, but unlikely get a break), what is the best way to go about this? Agencies? Just networking? Creating your own content (shorts etc.)? I know my stuff fairly well but I assume no-one will hire camera crew without real set experience or work credits. Thanks all in advance, PJ Palomaki +44 (0)7876 251565 www.pjpalomaki.com
