How do you get this color moonlight?

Hey, does anyone know whether the colour of the moonlight here is done through grading or CTBs??

Any opinions would me muchly appreciated,

Its often difficult to tell wether an image has been graded or if what you see was accomplished on set. I would say that this is probably an image that has a partial blue tint created on set and has also been graded, IMO the blues look too rich to have been done without grading.

Yep.

 

It seems that way. The tint is sort of an overall wash. And there's a lot of light in there as well ! It's a pretty big area.

I think you could get that kind of saturation without any special grading but lighting with that much filtration on the lens would be a difficult exercise. :blink:

 

Personally, I think I'd do it with an 80A on the lens and then push it the rest of the way in post.

We always call this the "E.T" light when you put a source on the ground back aways and then add atmosphere. As far as the color it simply looks to me like tungsten stock with uncorrected HMI's, maybe an extra 1/2 blue added to uncorrected HMI's. A favorite color of mine is Lee's Medium Blue. It's a very rich blue.
