Joshua Cleland
Have any of you tested out this combination? I'm excited to be able to get my hands on the Alexa for the first time this year at school and I am set on renting out a set of anamorphic lenses for my thesis film. The only thing that concerns me is that I don't think my school owns the right Alexa model for the 4:3 mode. Will shooting in 16x9 still work out okay on this camera? Stuart Brereton
It will work, but you'll end up with an image that has an aspect ratio of 3.56:1, so you'll have to crop extensively left and right if 2.40:1 is what you're after. Monitoring will also be an issue, as the 16:9 Alexas do not have a de-anamorphosing option in either the viewfinder of the monitor output, so your image will be squeezed. Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted September 2, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted September 2, 2015 The 16x9 we used to get 3.56:1 certainly had de-anamorphic on both the EVF and Mon out. Though I think that depends on whether they bought that upgrade or not. it was just a typical alexa.
