I'm working on a short where I want to film some static objects against white background to use as inserts. Is it worthwhile to buy/DIY a lightbox to do this, or can I get away with simply rigging up a white curved 90-degree background?

 

Are these contraptions going to buy me anything (ease, control, etc) that a simple hung one-wall-and-floor background won't?

That light box looks rather limiting. I'd make my own curved backdrop cove using white showcard if it's small object or background paper. You can get backgrounds made from white perspex - you can shine the lights through it (just don't put the lights too close).

 

With a more open layout you'll have space to place the light(s) where you want them and also put in reflectors and/or negative fill to suit your subject. You'll also have a wider range of camera positions.

hi,

one can use a large white acrylic sheet as a background.this allows the freedom of space,like you can keep the lights behind the acrylic sheet.acrylic sheet can give a very good diffused background.
