It has served me well (never rented) and I am sad to see it go. However as I really only shoot 35mm these days, it seems a shame to have the unit sitting around doing nothing. Some freelance / independent film maker would love this. I put this kit together and used it mostly for short films and dozens of music videos. INCLUDED IN THIS IS KIT IS THE FOLLOWING: 1 x Aaton LTR 7 Body 2 x Magazines 3 x on board batteries 1 x Super 16mm Zeiss 10-100mm Zoom 1 x Canon 7-56mm Zoom (S16 above about 11mm) 1 x Follow Focus Unit 1 x Matte Box 1 x Leather barney 1 x Customer rods for MB 1 x Aaton extended view finder 3 x Filters and filter holders 1 x Customer Pelican Case designed specifically for this Kit. 1 x Sachtler High Tripod Legs 1 x Sachtler Splitter 1 x Sachtler 100mm Fluid Head smooth 1 x Aaton manual and various misc paperwork -- Selection of misc cables, fuses etc etc
Dennis Kisilyov
I am sick of eBay scammers in the Cameras -> Movie - category. I don't get it. Do they think that DP's are made of pure $$$$. I've reported 22 listings so far. This type will be removed quickly as per ebay rules it asks the person to conduct the transaction outside of ebay . Those are deleted quickly. It's the real scams that take 96 hours to remove. And call me a pessimist but the only reason eBay takes those types of listings down quickly is cuz they don't get their 5 percent cut if the deal is legit. ... dispatched email to the AOL abuse team (CS.COM) formerly compuserve belongs to them. Zachary Vex
Suspect. I never buy from anyone who hasn't sold at least 10 pieces of film gear before. Unless it's obvious there are other factors involved.

All had between 0 - 3 when I traded with them. DD is still at 7! Stephen
Premium Member Tim Carroll Posted March 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted March 21, 2007 hey what you guys think of this one ? http://cgi.ebay.com/Aaton-LTR-7-Super-16-M...1QQcmdZViewItem That's an interesting auction. Have not seen that package before, so unlike the auction that started this thread (which was made up of stolen pictures and description from a camera that a guy in Austrailia sold last year) the one you linked to seems to be new. As far as the camera goes, someone has installed either a PL mount or a Panavision mount on it, the pictures are so small I can't really tell which it is, but it is not the Aaton mount. Would love to know who did the conversion, especially since the seller says the "Modificatiion has left top edge of frame uneven in spots". But hey, at $300 it's a bargain. I say, go with it Martin. :D -Tim
Dennis Kisilyov
Oh yeah, the formel listing was put into Coins-Collectables-PreWar, not cameras, it's a 100% scam. True, some people just put their gear up with 0 feedback, trying to sell it. But those usu get 0 bids.
Mitch Gross
That's gotta be the ugliest Arri PL mount modification I've ever seen! It looks so chunky I find it hard to believe that the depth is correct. I guess anything is possible and for $500 how wrong could you go? It is very, very old. The PL adapter was engineered especially for cooke lenses, normal arri standard to PL adapters will not work on these lenses becasue of the nature of how they focus. These lenses cover 35mm, Super16, and 16mm. Cooke lenses are an english made optic of the highest quality, The series II and III are renowned for the inherant romantic and emotive feel of the images produced. In 1960, Director of Photography Russell Metty, ASC, used Cooke lenses with a Delrama anamorphic adapter to film "Spartacus" in Technirama. The 35mm negative was converted via Panavision printer lenses to a 70mm print. It really pains me to let this lens set go, but I have to raise some more cash for another project. Zachary Vex
It's so easy to spot this guy... just type in any expensive film gear brand and look for something that is in a rush to sell for under a dollar. This particular ploy is really amazing! He actually got a form onto his ebay listing where you email him directly and he's claiming that his ebay email is 95% full! Astounding that ebay would allow this type of code on their site! item number 140099474191
Martin Yernazian
But hey, at $300 it's a bargain. I say, go with it Martin. :D -Tim F*ck yeah.... and then it gets here and is made out of cardboard and the mount is a mix of a can and couple of wires hehehe this is what the seller of the Aaton had to say about his camera It is a really nice camera. I should caution you it is worn- looking, as I have not painted it. Serial on the camera is C346. Magazines are M861 and 858. The lens No. is 6223995. Registration is very good, very steady. It's steadier than the telecine we have used. The uneveness in the frame is at the top AND bottom, but is clear of the 16x9 frame. The batteries need re-celling. We have used a Bauer 14v battery which provides better power than the Aaton cells for time lapse. The lens does not cover the Super16 frame at its widest: 10mm. We rented wide primes for wide shots. The viewfinder prism may need adjustment. The mags are quiet and work well. Note that the package inclues an outboard speed control and intervalometer, which was made by the same dp/inventor who converted the camera. I purchased the camera package used in December 1996. aaaaa helll noooooooooo
