Dory Breaux DP
I'm watching CSI LV right now, and just noticed that theres alot of noticible grain, much less then I'd expect from 35mm... So would someone set me strait and tell me what these killer shows are shot on?

Andy_Alderslade
and just noticed that theres alot of noticible grain, Could be electronic noise rather than grain, i've recently been watching the first series of Big Love and on darker or low-key scenes there is often a grainy/noisy element to the image - and thats definatly 35mm too. Patrick Cooper
There's one thing that always strikes me about CSI - and that is those whacky colours!
Francisco Gonzalez
There's one thing that always strikes me about CSI - and that is those whacky colours! The thing that allways strikes me about CSI Miami, is Caruso's torticollis...HA HA... it helps with the cross light. Francisco
timHealy
Cold Case is the show that experiments with different formats in their crime recreations from the past. best Tim
Dory Breaux DP
I'm pretty sure its grain... something else I noticed, Casino Royal has a lot of grain, more so then I recall seeing in any 16mm shot, wasn't shot on 65mm? Odd. Oh well. BTW a lot of the nutty colors in CSI LV are just well used gradients.
Leo Anthony Vale
I'm pretty sure its grain... something else I noticed, Casino Royal has a lot of grain, more so then I recall seeing in any 16mm shot, wasn't shot on 65mm? Odd. Oh well. My cable system is very good at getting the lower numbered channels very noisy, of which CBS is one. 'Casino Royale' didn't strike me as being particularly grainy, except for B/W sequence. Not that there's anything wrong with grain.

John Babl
As far as I know, CSI Miami still shoots 35mm 3 perf Panavision-they also shoot reversal/cross process for some of the flashback/effects with deliberate grain/extreme look Best, John Babl DP Miami
