Premium Member Chris Keth Posted July 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted July 21, 2007 It's good reading. I don't get it that often because fo the price, but I pick one up when an article catches my eye.

e gustavo petersen
yeh, I was thinking the same thing, Dose it cover pretty much the same things as AC ot ICG? I would have to disagree. While it generally covers the same films, its emphasis is focused around the folks who do the special and visual effects. If you're unfamiliar with visual effects the concepts might be hard to grasp, but it's worth reading to gain further understanding. And you're right, it's pricey but then again I think it's a quarterly, not a monthly publication.
timHealy
I have been reading cinefex since the mid 80's. It is a great magazine and will have a lot of detailed info in there with the focus being on special effects. It will have more info than AC or ICG mags. He used to cover just one or two movies per edition and in the beginning had no advertising. Now he does more stories with ads to help pay the bills but the content remains great. It is worth the price especially if you are just learning. Best Tim
Brian Drysdale
It works out cheaper per issue if you take out a subscription. They go into the effects work in much more depth than AC.
