Salvador M. Rodrigues
Hi Everyone, Just wanted to know if there are any feature films shot on 16mm (or s16), entirely handheld ? (Or at least a great portion of it) Best Regards, SMR Edited September 8, 2007 by Salvador M. Rodrigues
Premium Member Adam Thompson Posted September 8, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted September 8, 2007 28 Weeks Later used a lot of handheld and it was S16. The scenes with Brad Pitt in Babel were S16 and I think were handheld a lot of the time too.
Leo Anthony Vale
'Grey Gardens', 'Salesman' and other Maysles films. Probably anything by Fred Wiseman. Same for Pennebaker. Look for cinema verite documentaries.
Chance Shirley
Check out The Devil's Rejects. Great-looking, gritty, S16 handheld shooting.

A. Whitehouse
"Tigerland" I remember a lot of that was hand held too, and S16mm. Millions of short films... Edited September 9, 2007 by A. Whitehouse

Jonathan Bowerbank
Wexler's "Medium Cool" had a lot of handheld 16mm since a lot of it was shot guerrilla/news camera style.

Bob Hayes
"Bloody Sunday" by Paul Greengrass redefined handheld for me.
Leo Anthony Vale
Wexler's "Medium Cool" had a lot of handheld 16mm since a lot of it was shot guerrilla/news camera style. There is only one 16mm sequence, the cocktail party with the news cameramen. But lots of 35mm hand held using an Eclair CM3. The cocktail party used ECO and NPR. Leo Anthony Vale
"Laws Of Gravity" shot by Jean de Segonzac for Nick Gomez The lenses were too long for my tastes. Recently watched 'Shock Waves'; not all handheld, but quite alot. 7247 in an ACL, 200' mags. Watchable for a zombie movie. They were SS zombies, so a bit more disciplined and not cannibals. Jon Boguslaw
"Fear of a Black Hat" was shot in 16mm and a lot of the shots were hand-held.
