what is the best laser range meter for AC??

Hi, everyone.

 

I'm thinking to buy a laser range meter and researching about it.

Now, I think the best one is Hilti PD32 because it has a telephoto lens

to measure a far point. It's very useful to see a laser point clearly under

daylight in outside as well.

 

However the compact Leica meter looks attractive, too.

 

Please tell me your best laser range meter for AC jobs! :rolleyes:

I have recently bought a Leica Disto A5 based on member's recommendations here. So far, I have not used it on a shoot, but for a number of other thing. It's a great tool. Simple to use and very accurate!

The Disto A2 is great as well, for a lower price, however with less features. The A2 is accurate up to an 1/8th of an inch, and has a range of like 200ft or so.

The A2 is verx good for indoors, on sunny days on exterior locations you can have a lot of problems finding your point and measuring.

That's why I got the A5. It has a 2x viewfinder which makes it much easier to aim outdoors. They say that red sunglasses work well too, you might be able to use a red filter for B&W photography as well...

View finder seems necessary using in outdoors.

Even concerning price and functions, Leica Disto A5 sounds good.

Two AC's that I work with use Hiltis mostly for Steadicam stuff it seems. And not all the time.
