Sakari Suuronen
I've been playing with the HVX200 in 720p and I'm a bit surprised about the noise in low light situations. I've been shoting wide open and definetely without any gain but the noise is really striking. Are there any basic camera settings to get rid of the noise? I've been testing the camera for documentary work.
darrin p nim
i believe this is common with the camera because of its low light sensitivity and 1/3" chip. Its trying to pack in HD information into a small imager.
Premium Member John Sprung Posted September 21, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted September 21, 2007 The chip is 960 x 540 in 1/3", so the photosite density shouldn't be much different from a 1920 x 1080 in 2/3". -- J.S.
Xavier Plaza
Hi, Check in this forum (HVX200) the next Topic "Recommendations for cine-like settings" , there you can read an interesting setup by Bill Totolo especially on low light scenes, take a look of it and testing... ... Patrick Neary
Hi- There really isn't a magic fix for the HVX in low light, it's just an incredibly noisy camera. raising the coring helps to mitigate that only a little.
Adamo P Cultraro
Barry Green's HVX book has a CD that comes with it. Besides being an excellent resource, the CD containes scene files for the camera, a couple of which are optimized for low light.
John Atala
What about a positive Detail Coring Value? João
Premium Member Michael Nash Posted November 11, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted November 11, 2007 What about a positive Detail Coring Value?João That can help some, but detail coring isn't noise reduction. It just controls the amount of detail enhancement that's added to the noise that's inherent to the signal. And the lower your overall detail settings, the less effect detail coring will have. Premium Member Walter Graff Posted November 11, 2007 Premium Member Share Posted November 11, 2007 Go to Grahm Natress' site and buy his big box of tricks for FCP (if you heve it). He has some wonderful noise reducer plug ins that work great with a noisy camera like the HVX.
