Just see to what has happen to the same initiative targeting the digital still photography market. Manufacturers are interested only in their workflows and company agenda. They don't want to settle their differences (just like HD-DVD and BR). They don't like to be followers and are more interested in "proprietary" everything to try to "protect" their respective market.... The Adobe CinemaDNG initiative in a perfect and unite world would be excellent...but then Adobe would be probably been sued for anti-trust laws or competition laws: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antitrust With this initiative, Adobe wants just to secure its position in the market...like ALL companies want. Yeah and in digital still market Adobe is an 800-lb. Gorilla with Photoshop, but in digital cinematography market they are just a middle/light-weight player. But it's a good idea. Well they haven't got Nikon or Canon to sign on to DNG. Altho they have Leica (M8 at least), some Hasselblad -- not sure abot Leaf/Aptus just googled this they have Pentax and - interestingly the new 60 fps Casio.... Interesting idea though. But how to accommodate RED with (so far) all it's RAW data compressed with proprietary Redcode or SI and Cineform ? -Sam Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
