Hank Vohrer
What programs do you all prefer to use when doing your own color work? Why?
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted June 5, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 I would say a good deal of us recognize the need for a good colorist in a proper color suite. Color correcting at home can lead to unpredictable results when screened (calibration problems/monitoring problems etc). That being said, often, for things never intended for wide distribution (web for example) many people use the controls in their NLE, and/or a program like Apple Color. I cannot stress enough, however, how much help a real colosit in a full suite is-- the outcome is almost always better than can be achieved from home. You're often paying for their talent much more so than their equipment.
Premium Member Simon Wyss Posted June 5, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted June 5, 2009 Memochrome*. 32,000 frames freely programmable, Excel management, 50 steps per color (RGB), instant repeat. I am not yet happy with the Schwarzschild corrections but that will come. It's a light control over time in conjunction with step printers. At value 1 the exposure is shortest, at 50 longest. Terrific precision
Premium Member Peter Moretti Posted June 10, 2009 Premium Member Share Posted June 10, 2009 I use the built-in Color Correction features in Avid Media Composer. Not as good a Color :(, but I can do quite a bit with what it does offer.
