rob spence
Does anyone know of any truly packable lights. I'm after 2 portable 500watt lamps that have folding refectors ( a bit like the old flashgun reflectors of the 1950s) so they fit easily into luggage for travelling abroad. Any ideas? Jaron Berman
Lowell tota - can't get many lights smaller than that except moleeno. For bringing up room ambience or bouncing, they work quite well..... and their reflector can be positioned to work pretty well as a cyc light too. Rifa is a great light, as Robert mentioned - fits in the case with your sticks and makes really beautiful light, available (EXPENSIVE) grids, etc. lowel isn't a bad way to go for cheap portable and easy. Premium Member David Auner aac Posted September 12, 2011 Premium Member Share Posted September 12, 2011 Hi Rob, you might also wanna have a look at the Dedo 150W/24V dedicated softlight. Very nice output, folds down really small and is light too. And the lamps are amazingly cheap 88 €-cents! Regards, Dave
Brian Dickman
I've been doing a fair amount of traveling lately too; shooting a lot of interviews for corporate clients. I've kind of forgotten about the Tota as an option, which I've used before. I think I might include one in my kit for my trip next week, they take up almost no extra space. Thanks for the reminder! I have been going out with whatever Arri fresnels I can fit into a small case, which is usually a 150w, 300w and either a 650w or a 1k ArriLite with a soft box and a reflector.
