Reuel Gomez
Anybody know what lenses are being used on this film. I can't tell from the b-roll.
Shawn Martin
Master Primes and Optimos. And wow, this looks awful. Really can't stand that shiny cheap digital look that makes everything look like a set.

Really can't stand that shiny cheap digital look that makes everything look like a set. I never saw the first film, but I think that might be attributed to the fact that this is trying to be a big-budget sci-fi film on a $40 million budget. Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 31, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted August 31, 2013 Less nice highlight handling than we're used to from Alexa, but I can't say the look offends me. Then again, I'm head over heels for this sort of action sci fi.

Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted August 31, 2013 Premium Member Share Posted August 31, 2013 Absolutely, couldn't agree more. Moon springs to mind, although that was considerably cheaper than this, and rather different in intent.
Randy J Tomlinson
i just was in the movies to see elysium and also have seen white house down. in both, they showed the trailer of riddick and im excited to see that.
Vadim Bobkovsky
Previous two "Riddick" features (Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick) were shot on 35mm film and both had "hot sun" shots that some hotheads immediately associate with poor overexposure latitude of digital sensors. That effect was so obviously enhanced in grading. To me it looks just like Pitch Black, maybe better.
Freya Black
It's the small to medium-budget sci-fi movies that tend to be more interesting. That certainly seems to be true. The first in the series was quite a low budget affair but I was surprised that it was actually quite good. Wished they never made a sequel tho. Hate to think what the 3rd one will be like.
