Phil Thompson
Hello there, Anyone? I've attached a link to some raw DPX frames. Can anyone mess about with these and make them good?DPX FILEShttps://www.filemail.com/d/pmtbrmahsldqgit
Phil Thompson
It's from a 35mm feature me and a friend have just finished. Ideally we need a london based colourist to help us out finish it. Essex Stargate is the name (pending MGM clearance - so probably won't be that....)
Premium Member Aapo Lettinen Posted March 21, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 21, 2015 there's about million ways to treat these shots, just messing with gamma curves and changing the mid/shadow color balance makes them better. for the ext shot you may want to change the sky color

Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted March 22, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 22, 2015 Where'd you get them from? Photoshop won't load them. P
Premium Member Aapo Lettinen Posted March 22, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 22, 2015 the first ones are 8-bit and have some alpha problem, I could open them in AE when set the alpha matting to "ignore"
Premium Member Aapo Lettinen Posted March 22, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 22, 2015 I sent Phil T. some quickly corrected samples, I think most of the shots can be easily corrected just with contrast tweaking and changing the colors slightly. some slight magenta cast has to be removed and shadows neutralized. some shots may need secondary correction to skin colors and maybe skies but that is also quick to do
Scott Pickering
I was only able to open 2 of the many files listed here in Premiere Pro. I did a basic "Auto Color adjust" and Auto contrast and it looked pretty good at that point. The file where they are all sitting on a couch in a room, what bit depth was that DPX file? I'm looking at getting either 10 bit or 16 bit DPX files made from my films, and wonder what the program will open.
Phil Thompson
nuke opens them
Premium Member Aapo Lettinen Posted March 22, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted March 22, 2015 after effects cc also opens them. if you see black frames you should change the alpha matting settings at import or by using interpret footage. Resolve or Photoshop could not open at least the first 4 shots, did not try with Premiere
