  1. Hi, Red discussions are endless...and sometimes boring, hard to find real informations about RED... What's its sensitivity or signal-to-noise ratio? How much does it weight in handheld mode with a prime lens and accessories? What about gamma curves? LUT?... Is there settings for deteil level, knee point, white clip, color matrix, shutter, aspect ratio mask....??? Thanks.

  6. Hi, This trick worked with mine : turn the brown knurled disk with your finger to help the motor starting...be carefull not to let one of your finger in the mechanism.... After a small cleaning your camera should run without problems for a long time. Good luck.
  7. Hi Stephen, your mailbox is full so I let my message here, I'm a DP, owner of a full Arriflex 35-3 Package...maybe we can work together on your winter project...If you take your DP with you I can be your Focus puller and rent my Camera but I won't rent it without me...
  8. I've heard that the one camera a DP should own is a Arri 35-3 because it's the more reliable 35mm camera ever; it will never let you down. It doesn?t need too much maintenance, the mechanic is unbeatable and the electronic is really reliable. The only part you should ever switch one day is the pull down claw, and it?s really easy. You can?t do sync sound with it but it?s rather affordable and very very versatile. There are many accessories for this camera that you can buy one at a time and end with a complete package pretty quickly?
  9. Silly question : How do you cut the Run/stop sound on an Arri SR3 ??? I can't see the way in the manual...Help Thanks
  10. Hi, I'm going to shoot a short in Atlanta and I'm looking for a good rental house for film or HD overthere, any advices? Thanks.
  11. Try the one on the director's cut edition of "The Yards" James Gray and Steven Soderberg...a gold mine for any film makers...they talk about everything, including color palette, lightning, focal lenses, music and editing and so much more...
  12. There's true anamorphic lenses dedicated to super 8 called Iscorama (Schneider)... There's 2 different anamorphic ratio for those 10mm lenses : 1.5X and 2X.... it gives a final aspect of 2 and 2.66 ;)
  13. Hi, Is it possible to rebalance a plastic mirror shutter? The mirror of my Éclair 16mm NPR is quite unbalanced and I?ve a feeling of unsteadiness in the viewfinder when the camera is running and it?s really hard to focus with accuracy during the shot, hopefully I often work with an AC but I need a perfect mirror to pull focus by myself and check focus on tricky shots...Should I change my mirror?
  14. Hi Alain, I've already looked for a S16mm GG at Gerard Galle place but he hasn't got any...He has many things including a very rare Eclair Panoram switchable 16/S16mm camera...unfortunatly it's in rather bad shape... :( About the service manual, it came from Gerard's documentations and it was a photocopy that I've scanned.
  15. My NPR was modified by Les Bosher...but I'm not really totally satisfied with the Ground glass. Since the NPR was made in S16mm ( not much, I agree) I assume there is some S 16mm GG...I've seen Eclair original S16 spare camera gate...
  16. Does an original Eclair Super 16mm 1.66 groundglass exists for the NPR? I'm looking for one, any ideas where I can find one ? Thanks
  17. I've heard about a "Digital magazine" for the Penelope but I don't really know if it's a serious information... I hope we can upgrade other Cameras with this trick...Imagine an old Cameflex with a 4k Mag
  18. The NPR is a rock steady camera if well maintained. You can upgrade the camera pretty easily: PL mount, Super 16mm, video assist, support bars 15mm / 60mm space, add a follow focus and a 4x4 swing away mattebox. If you have a small and quiet Aaton motor you end up with a really nice and reliable piece of equipment?the other great thing on this camera is the variable shutter from 5°(!!!) to 180° and the Angenieux viewfinder who delivers a bright and well magnified picture, compared to the small and dark picture of the SR1 or 2. I don?t know if there?s many camera technicians around the world who knows the Kinor?
  19. I have a Technovision MultiQuartz HS base for my 35-3. This electronic base is pretty much like the High speed Cinematography Electronic base but has a single frame position. It seems to work fine and I will make some test in a few days but I wonder if the camera is light proof enough? Do I need a capping shutter? What?s the exposition time, ¼ sec? Is there a way to link the MultiQuartz base to a computer or a Palm Pilot to drive the camera?
  20. The Eclair NPR can take daylight spools no problem. You just have to remove the feed-core of the magazine.
  21. A former Beaulieu engineer showed is 16mm camera to me, it?s really nice and seemed rock solid but it can?t be modified to S-16mm and the lens mount can?t be modified too. It was a news camera but didn?t sell much and I was surprised that it showed many resemblances with actual 16mm or video cameras... It must be hard to find someone who can repair or modify such camera, you should looking for Eclair NPR or ACL, Aaton LTR or Arri SR
  22. Those scams are often Chinese with Buy it now offer (RMB price)...they fool no one...I hope. Always ask many questions to the seller, ask for details and pictures...it's the better way to see if the person is right...
  23. Techniscope is fine but only for 2.35 ratio. 3-perf can be 1.78 when used in its "full" format (perfect for HDTV transfer) or can be 1.85 and 2.35 for feature film, using the all width of 35mm film. In 2.35 ratio 2-perf space is 205.92 mm2 and 3-perf is 263.58 mm2, 22% increase.
