  1. http://www.filmfestivals.com/index.shtml has the most detail site for all world wide film festivals. breaks it down by months. good resource.
  2. Another thing to keep in mind is that most Ad Agencies, now have thier own "in house" video productions to cut cost and make more profit. The thing that seperates you from the rest is your own Demo Reel.
  3. A good grip and at least 2 good P.A.'s are a most for small productions.
  4. I actually got alot of responses from a few DP's/Camera Operators who rent there HVX200. I needed it for a spec commercial. And I posted a ad on http://www.craigslist.com . Since I don't have insurance, there is no way I could rent from house. Most of them where willing to work with me. Give it a shot.
  5. Since I never heard of this company and something about the website url is abit fishy, I would do alittle homework. Maybe one of the established DP's or Directors could contact them and ask if they can get a free sample for review, in exchange for an article etc. Its been done before so no harm in trying. But if its the real deal that would be sweet.
  6. looks pretty wicked man! not very fond of full scale cgi films but this trailer got my attention.
  7. Guillermo Del Toro on Blade 2. And I love the way he breakdowns down the whole script on his featurettes.
  8. I think the site is on Ludicrous Speed. Sorry bro, couldnt help myself. lol. SpaceBalls Dark Helmet: Yes. We're gonna have to go right to, Ludicrous Speed. [people in background gasp] Colonel Sandurz: Ludicrous Speed? Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't know if this ship can take it. Dark Helmet: What's a matter, Colonel Sandurz? CHICKEN???
  9. This is just my advice. PC Editing Software: Premiere for PC http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/ or Final Cut Pro for MAC. http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/ If you want a high end editing system hardware/software get Avid Media Composer Adrenaline. http://avid.com/products/media-composer/ Motion Graphics: Adobe After Effects 7 PC/MAC http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/ or Snake/Motion for Final Cut Pro MAC http://www.apple.com/shake/ http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/motion/ Graphic Design: Adobe Photoshop CS 2 http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/ Screenplay Software: Final Draft 7 or Scriptware http://www.finaldraft.com/ http://www.scriptware.com/ Script Breakdown, Budget, etc: Gorillia Software http://www.junglesoftware.com/
  10. 16gb's of ram? thats unheard of! I got a Dell PC which can only hold up to 2GB. I'm planning to invest a few thousand dollars on a new desktop that I will use for editing and motion graphics. Heard that the new dual processors are excellent? Techology moves so fast that its hard to catch up to it. Anybody recommend a PC for Editing/Motion Graphics? Will be using AVID and After Effects on it.
  11. I'm curious to find out, how they broadcast HD on cable stations like Time Warner. I've done commercials on NTSC which we transferred to Beta for Broadcasting but haven't worked on a full scale HD production. I even called Time Warner advertising sales department but the guy couldn't anwser my question. Does the final spot or feature have to be transferred to Blu-ray or HD DVD?
  12. My personal opinion, I feel that Oldboy is one of the most important films of the last 10 years. It had such a raw emotional impact and the cinematography was stunning. Its to late in the night to get into the depths of the film but its a true masterpiece. Its a shame "they" are making a remake of it already http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425320/ . Thank you for posting " Memories of a Murder " Max, will try to order or rent it. By the way I did submit my DVD trailer for the Ifilms, Oldboy DVD trailer contest, didnt win but I was glad I tried.
  13. At first I was a bit confused cause I heard alot about a Documentary by the same name. Saw the trailer and it looks tight. They have been showing the trailer on Univision alot so I'm sure the raza will go see it. Best of luck!
  14. the film is actually korean. i did a yahoo theatre search with no luck, if anything it will just go straight to video. to tell you the truth I was not impressed by the trailer, not a single frame made me want to view it. Which is a shame since Korea has been producing some amazing films in the last 10 years. By the way I did get a chance to view your showreel, now that had cinematic vision.
  15. Hey bro. I've seen different formats and styles of resumes. You're first start would be to post and contact the major cities in the east coast's film commission. Most film commission city websites have a place where you can post your resume. As far as style I can email you my grip resume so you can see an example, of a layout I've seen used here alot in Texas. You can also download my Director resume on my site http://www.elgatonegrofilms.com . This one is more " Artistic " and is in PDF format . You have the experience the rest is your own hustle. Also here is a link to The San Antonio Film Commission Production Manual http://sanantoniocvb.com/film/film_prodmanual.asp just type in my name Jesus Sifuentes. Wish you luck bro! By the way if you have a demo reel send me a link.
  16. I think it has to do more with an issue of bandwidth than anything else but I agree.
  17. I was wondering what other jobs that pertain to the industry, do you work in to make some extra income. The majority of people on the forum are DP, Grips, Directors or Camera Operators but I assume at times you can't find work ( of course it depends on where you live ) that goes with your title. As for me I am a Director but I do alot of Grip work, DVD authoring and some Motion Graphics. As a matter of fact I was thinking of getting Certified to become an Avid Media Composer Editor to make some extra money.
  18. a special effects forum would be cool. fx not cgi.
  19. when I first tried to get funding via the internet, I used a paypal donation button. it didnt work for me so I took it off my official site but it might work for you since you have more press. http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p...e-intro-outside
  20. that was intense and raw! what was your specific job on the film? was it DP/Editor/Cameraman? to save webspace you should use http://www.photobucket.com and for streaming video use http://www.youtube.com for the video love your official website http://www.theblacksheep.be by the way. looks awesome!
  21. You bring in a valid and important point. I was reluctant at first since I have a cool "stage name" aka El Gato Negro. :D
  22. that was wicked bro! i assume you shot in film, saw way to much detail for it to be dv or hd even. what film stock did you use? love the color tone of the spot. awesome job!
  23. you might try using microdolly products. havent tried them myself but they seem practical and intuitive. http://www.microdolly.com
