  1. I didn't know Ikonoskop were producing a HD camera, I thought they were still concentrating on DS8. Glad to be the first to post! :P !
  2. That one and this offering from Panny seem to the best bet for the professional user. Hopefully AVCHD has improved suitably over the past year to rival HDV. I just feel so irritated at Canon now that I may just jump ship and buy the Panny. At least it has a viewfinder!
  3. Thanks Hal and Emanuel! I heard a rumour that it can do 8.56 Megapixel stills. Also, the lens is presumably larger for shallower DoF, and the BLC button has been changed for one that allows multiple use of the focus dial, no bloody ring though. :(
  4. Here's the Christmas one. There are others, but I could only find this one on Youtube. It's probably not the worst one though.,
  5. The worst TV advert I've ever seen was from a company in the North of England called Safestyle Windows and Doors. Dreadful! Absolutely dreadful! Not just the cinematography (if it's worthy of that term) but everything! I'll see if I can dig it up from Youtube.
  6. I've been watching this thread for a while now, and I can't really understand why more lenses to fit a K3 M42 is such a bad thing, surely this must therefore be as big market, and more products to fit that market would surely be a positive thing, would it not? Sure F4.5 is a bit of a silly maximum opening for such a conventional focal length, and I can't really see the reasoning behind that, but it may have a use.
  7. Okay sorry. How about Steve-O from now on? You can't say that makes you sound old.
  8. Firstly, you're a very funny guy Paul! Secondly, is your FM2 black or silver? And what about you Mr. Williams? Also I forgot to mention my other film cameras: Canon 310XL Canon 814XLS Elmo 110R Sankyo CME 1100 Olympus Trip 35 Hassellblad 205 FCC.

    FSLR?

Just like my DSLR thread, but this one is about film SLR's. In fact, any kind of film camera. Nikon FM2 + Soligor 28, 35mm dual-focal, Nikon 50mm (rather nice!) and a Tamron 100 - 300mm zoon. Thanks!
  10. The EOS 300 was a huge leap in DSLR afforability if my history is accurate. Perhaps the '300' was trying to do the job a bridge camera would do nowadays, namely, luring the trendy young compact user in to paying more for a camera. Plus it makes it sound like a good camera for active outdoor photography. Anyway, thanks for the input guys! I love the way DSLR are connecting us all in this thread. Now how about some photgraphs from your cameras now! :P
  11. Right! It seems I started a bit of a debate, first I'd like to apologise, I'm sorry. First things first, I did mean using a video camera daylight balanced. Probably around F5.6 for the depth of field I'd like, sensitivity around 400 - 500 ASA. 100 yards does seems a tad eccessive looking back on things, I'd would have just about halved that distance, so 50 yards, you're right. When I say balancing the camera colder I mean giving the fill that is now my key, the china ball/balloon a cool white tinge to it, which would give the HMI that is now my fill/back/rim light only a gentle blue and underexpose it slightly, perhaps it that wasn't enough to give the character's eyes enough sparkle a small Kino Flo on the ground. Any way I seem to have made a couple of mistakes here. I am fairly new to ths so I'm bound to. Also, I'd love to be able to assist on a set, but chronic illness pretty much completely prevents me from doing so. Thanks anyway Mr. Racozcky! Thanks Joe for those films, day for night honestly seems like the best option for someone of my limited experience, and I'm rather good at it too! I'll also look at both those films, thanks! *Back to the original topic!*
  12. I hope Anthony Dod Mantle wins. Slum Dog Millionaire looked fantastic!
  13. If I had my way I'd use a 12K HMI with some 1/4 CTB about 100 or so yards away behind the actors for a nice rimlight, and some sort of big HMI china ball for the fill in front of the actors, or to the side. I'd then balance the camera for a slight blue hue on the fill light, which would hopefully give the rimlight some nice ghostly blue quality.

    DSLR?

I'm sure most of you gathered here must own one, what I'm wondering is which model, and what lenses you have for it. Thanks! Sony A300 + 18 - 70mm & 55 - 200mm lens.
  15. I've got a Vauxhall Corsa TD 5 door hatchback. I don't know if you can buy that model in the US, but it does seem to store a lot for a small car, especially with back seats down. I have yet to be in the situation where I'd had to carry a lot of film equipment, but it can swallow up a fortnight's shopping ans some flat-pack furniture quite easily, the torque a turbo-diesel gives at low revs is also really welcome when you're carrying a lot of weight. It may be an idea to consider a diesel if you'll be carrying a lot.
  16. Wow! What a lovely quaint old magazine, that's rather raised my mood just reading it, and you can tell they're full of passion for their artfor just from the front cover alone! I wonder if they could have imagined what their society would be like now. Thanks for that!
  17. That looks really cool, it could even be valuable, from the photos it seems to be in pretty pristine condition.
  18. Wowee! Locations are REALLY on your side in this shoot!! Whatever you do, use the tunnel though. Beautiful church, I bet it would be great to go and pray in there!
  19. He sounds like a great choice! Anyway, don't tell me any more please, I want the rest to be a surprise.
  20. Oh that's long forgotten! Way back in November I believe, certainly old hat on a busy online forum by now.
  21. Our very own Stuart Brereton did a fantastic job of the gritty look in 'The Devil's Chair'. You may want to search his website and see if that's the sort of look you're after.
