  1. Thanks guys. I was kind a reafirming that notion. Just needed some opinions. Jason
  2. Any opinions on the new sony hd cam or the pd170? Jason
  3. I have just finished my second doc on 16mm. I am now starting pre-production on my third. This one will include extensive travel and shooting. For this reason I have opted to shoot on a video format. JUst curious as to my options. Cameras need to be relatively small and lightweight, yet I want to keep the quality as high as possible. I do presently have a pd170 and am thinking of using it. Any other recomendations for high quality, lightweight cams? Would anyone recommend a beta format as opposed to dvcam? any suggestions would be appreciated. Jason
  4. Im interested in seeing. Ive been thinking of doing the same thing myself. Jason
  5. I made some small things look like they were floating using magician's string. can only really use small objects. It may be hard to find depending on where you live. Jason
  6. I have a book by Lenny Lipton. Maybe its in there. Let me check. Jason

    help

I just synched my film with a standard slate and no timecode on fcp4. It took a little bit of extra work but I did it. You just have to have a good eye and some patience. Jason
  8. I would be interested in hearing how you did this. Ive been thinking about trying it. Could you explain what I need to do or where to find some info on 3-d? Jason
  9. As dark as possible. SHould learn to use a change bag just to be sure. Better safe then sorry. As previous post explains the lab winding process allows you to load them in moderate light only exposing the outer layer. I have seen people load them in light and have fine images. Use a bag or darkroom to be sure. Jason
  10. I have done this as I buy 400ft rolls of a stock not available in 100ft loads, but shoot with a cam that only takes 100ft loads. Room should be completly dark. Put 400 ft roll on a split reel. Roll off on to a daylight spool and then cut film. After this you must roll that 100 ft back on to another 100ft roll so your perfs are on the right side. Jason
  11. I just finished shooting a doc where I used a dat recorder. It was easy to use and I feel good about the sound. I didnt use the time code, just did the synching myself. I got most of the synching done in a day and it looks fine. Again, easy to use and sounds great, although im not really a sound guy. Jason
  12. I have come across a goddard quote about 7222. Cant remember it exactly, but are there any french new wave films on 7222?

    Kodak 7222

I recently shot a film with Kodak 7222. I really enjoyed the look. Can anyone tell me of any other films shot in 7222 that I could take a look at. i am curious to results others have had. Jason
  14. Cut 6 400 ft mags to 3 in 10 to 20 degrees c. That would be new batteries probably. Again, this is from the manual, not necessarily reality! Jason
  15. Oh, my npr manual says 6-10 400 ft mags for 12v 3.5Ah battery. Jason
  16. Is the ACL the same power draw as the NPR - 12V DC 3.5Ah? yep it is. Jason
  17. I seem to get a quite a few mags with np1. I use my four pin adapter from my dat recorder. Jason
  18. I use np1 batteries and slide them under hte handle on top of the mag and tape them there. It works pretty well. Jason
  19. Just curious. I have an npr also. How big is the battery you are using? Jason
  20. So if seriously considering Ultra for my npr, I could simply buy a second gate. So besides that, and the possibility of image problems as some mentioned, there are no real dangers to my camera? Jason
  21. What does it normally cost for an extra gate? I have an NPR. Second, is it easy to change the gate yourself or do you need a professional? Jason

    16 vs 8.

Hey, Check out the movie "fruit of the vine". It s a feature length skate/doc movie on the development of pools skating. It is shot completly in super 8 film. Fantastic movie with fantastic footage. They use super 8 for what it is good for. Raw and gritty, with cameras you can bring anywhere. They just add their interviews as audio tracks laid over the skate images. really interesting. Jason
  23. I think I read somwhere on the net about a guy who made a super 8 pinhole cam. If you find anything out let me know. I am interested in seeing how it is done! jason
