  1. Thank you for reference onmy website. As for me, I love of Krasnogorsk-1 more from Krasnogrosk-3. Yes, A film cartridge system of film loading show a some other, but , from practical side, this better from system of 100ft daylight spools. K-1 do not have of aspout film guide, and you do not have of additional probability to scratch of film. The film cartridge of K-1 simply and reliable. K-1 film cartridge protect of film at all time and you can open of lid of body of camera at any time and check of film inside film tract, re-load of film on film tract and film do not light. Yes, you need rewind of film on original core of K-1 film cartridge, but, this is easy procedure. K-1 have lens mount and you can use of prime lenses of K-1 camera, zoom lens Meteor from K-2, K-3 camera with bayonet mount and you can use upgraded professional zoom lens 16 OPF-12 10-100 mm, 7.5 -75 mm. But, I can forecast of a next questions of K-1( K-3 ) user. 1. What kinds of lenses with more wide angle can be use with K-1, K-3 camera. Answers : If you have M42 screw mount camera - Peleng 8 mm. If you have bayonet mount K-1, K-2, K-3 cameras - 12.5 mm lens of K-1 camera, upgraded 10-100mm, 7.5-75 mm with bayonet mount. 2. I wish upgrade of K-1, K-3 on electrical motor version with crystal sync speed control. Answer : The upgrade do not economically sound, the better, to replace of camera on Kinor-16 SX-2M. 3. I wish use of 400 ft rolls. Answer :The upgrade do not economically sound, the better, to replace of camera on Kinor-16 SX-2M. That's why, The potential customer must think about future and answer on question, may be Kinor-16 SX-2M camera will better ? Kinor-16 SX-2M can use of 100 ft, 400 ft film rolls, have electrical motor and can have crystal sync speed control, can have prime lenses from 6 mm up to 300 mm, zoom lenses 7.5-75 mm, 10-100 mm.

  4. I porpose to check information about Kinor-16 SX-2M camera and set of lenses. Kinor-16 SX-2M camera can have super wide angle lens 6 mm, 10mm, 15 mm. The zoom lens can be 7.5-75 mm ( 16OPF-12-1 10-100mm with 0.75 front wide adapter ) the image will have better result from K-3 with Peleng.
  5. I do not know of details of schematic of XTR. I wish inform you only: We have microprocessor controller of crytal sync speed control of cine camera witrh with Time Lapse mode. We use of this controller for upgrade of Kinor-16 SX-2M, Konvas-2M and other cameras. We can dicsuss of details by PM.
  6. The size of loop of film out of magazine, at loading of film, must be 14 perforations. After, you need set of film to inside, evenl, on upper and lower loops.
  7. I wish told of my comments about use of 6 v battery and original power unit. The matter is that, original power unit of 15EPSS motor have two power rate of voltage changer : normal power ( speeds up to 24 fps ) and forced power( 24 red, 32 fps ). The output voltage of original power unit with 6 v battery will less of necessary at 24 fps ( black ) position and will have small power reserve for good stabiliztaion of speed. Any case, I recommed to test and adjust of speed meter of camera with any crystal sync speed motor and after, to measuring of real speed of camera with 6v battery and 24 fps. You can check of power reserve of motor very easy. If you press of finger on handle of manual turn of axis of motor ( to increase profits of working load) and If, the value of speed on speed meter do not change, all OK and power unit have power reserve for good speed stabilization.
  8. !!!!! Original version of 15EPSS motor of Konvas-1M ( 1KSR-1M ) camera compatible with 7.5-8.2 v battery only. 12 v battery can burn down of electronics after, a short time of run of camera. Original version of power unit can use of high power 6 v battery, but, you will have mahimum speed 24 fps, or you can upgrade of power unit and to have all speeds with 6 v battery. We had many posts about 15EPSS motor at forum.

You correct, if you need shoot of 24 fps with 50 Hz HMI lighters with magnetic ballast, you must think about synchronization, because, the correct synchronization will have cine camera with shutter angle of 172.8. You have camera with 180 degree of shutter disk. About Arri 35III camera need check of claw mechanism , mission profile of claw mechanism. But, you can think about use of speed shooting 25 fps. The speed 25 fps and 50 Hz HMI lighters synchronously for all angle of shutter disk. The other speeds, what have full synchronization between 50 HZ and any angle of shutter disk : 16.6666, 20.0, 33.333, 50 fps. Other way - to use modern HMI lighters with electronic ballas , with high frequency conversion. or, to use of motor-generator set with adjustable frequency of output voltage. You need voltage with 48 Hz. Or, to need use of daylight or Tungsten lighters. We have 50 HZ main power at Ukraine too and shoot of many footages with speed of 25 fps.
  10. You need synchronize of HMI lighters with magnetic ballast and 50HZ power at 24 fps shooting ? May be you need use speed 25 fps ? 25 fps and 50Hz synchronize at any shutter angle. Or ,to use HMI lighters with electronic ballast.
  11. Additional information. I check of user manuals and factory drafts of Konvas camera. The last editions of user manuals of Konvas-2M ( 1990 ) told about modern russian consistent fat BHII HP-271. This is high quality special, low themperature ( -60..+130C ) grease. The original factory drafts of film magazines fromMoskinap ( number 1KCP-1M-03.000) wrote: ..The all gears , ball bearing and rubbing surfaces to grease of consistent fat OKB-122-7. OKB-122-7 is multi-purpose, with preservative agent, consistent fat , with operating temperature -40..+100C, to use at aircraft DC motor bearing, coordinate boring machine, precision ball bearing. To have base oil viscisity, at -40C - 1800, at 0C - 500, at 50'C- 1,2. Other technical books wrote about new version of consistent fat " ERA" ( TU 38.101950-83). This is grease of new generation, have operating temperature -60...+120 C and have moder formula from "Ceatim-201", and better from "Ceatim-221" and "OKB-122-7". Era use at friction bearing, ball bearings, gear box of control of aircraft. I have, this information can help.

I think, Klube must have grease with chemical and physical characteristics similar of original russian grease. Need to choose of best analog. That's why, I show of characteristics of grease from russian documentation. About idea of Tim "With the ARRI cameras we use a special gage, and the magazines have an adjustment on each spindle. The 200 ft and 400 ft film magazines of Konvas have friction coupling and the friction coupling must be adjust on fixed value of antitorque moment , for 200 ft magazine -300..350 gramme on centimeter, for 400 ft magazine 1150..1260 gr/sm The feed reel must have antitorque moment, for 200 ft magazine , 60..80 gramme on lever 12.5 mm. for 400 ft, 60-80 gr/ 25 mm
  13. Good information. At first, i recommed to read of original user manual and original technical information of manufacturer of Konvas camera. The originaluser manual told about re-lube of parts of filmmagazine of ball bearing, gears, surfaces of friction bearing of russian consistent fat BHII HP-271. This is special consistent fat for hih speed ball bearing of small micro DC motors with speed up to 30000 rpm, with very small moment of resistance at start, with operating temperature -60..+130C, The life time of small ball bearing with operating temperature +50C, at speed up to 6000rpm - 20000 hours. The analog of grease must be suitable for plain and rolling bearings operating at low temperature and at high speeds for spindle bearings in precision and optical equipment. Service temperature range -60..-50C up to 120..130C, Working penetration at 25C, near 310-340, Base oil viscisity, at 0C - neat 75, at 40C near 20, at 100'C- near 4. Drop point, more 170C From other side, the film magazine of cine camera - precision device and precision mechanism. A some parts of film magazine need of re-lube, other parts need of full cleaning ( friction coupling), a some parts need of special tools for take to pieces. A some parts ask of detailed inspection on surface deterioration. Do not need forget about springs, surfaces of film channel and clamping plate. The service of film magazine do not re-lube only, this is test and adjust procedures too. That's why, thre real high quliaty service can make of experienced camera technician. Any case, you can study of design of film magazine and crete of personal technology of service and lube. But, you must be ready to search of a some spare parts, after, the your technology of take to pieces of part will wrong and the part can be broken.
  14. Frankly speaking, the anamoprphic lenses use at 35 mm film shooting with rate 2.35:1. But, a some guys use of anamorphic lenses with 16 mm cine cameras. I have personal experience of use of LOMO anamoprhic prime and zoom lenses with 35 mm cine cameras and had experiments with 16 mm cine cameras ( Krasnogorsk, Kinor-16 ). The 16 mm footages had very good quality. I do not had of any discomfort, except, of camera and lens mount matching. But, you must draw attention on rate between angle of view of lens with 35 mm and 16 mm filming. I think, you can use of S16 Arri PL camera and modified on Arri PL lens mount LOMO lenses.
  15. Hi Daniel. Please confirm of full names of lenses. 35 mm front anamoprhic adapter 35 NAS or full lens 35 BAS ? The second - 35 NAS-4-1 front anamoprhic attachment 50/ 75 mm and spherical lens 75 mm ? The front anamoprhic attachmnet 35 mm have rear spherical lens 35 mm ? At first, you need adjust of de-anamoprhic viewfinder with your camera. The body of de-anamoprhic viewfinder have mount part, jammed by a few small screws. You need unscrew of this small screws and mount part can be turn and move on body of viewfinder. You need move of viewfinder in forward or in back and adjusting of sharpness of ground glass. After, you turn of viewfinder in left or right and adjusting of correct square of ground glass. All this procedures will have good result, if the de-anamorphic viewfinder have correct adjusting of optical components inside. The adjusting of NAS anamoprhic lenses need from adjusting of flange focal distance of spherical lens at rear componnet. You set of spherical viewfinder on camera, set up of spherical component of NAS lens and adjusting of position of spherical lens inside body at " inifinity" position. After, you can add of front anamoprhic adapter and replace of viewfinder on de-anamorphic. If the anamorphic picture on ground glass have artifacts, need adjust of front anamorphic adapter. But, this procedure possible on optical bench only.
  16. HI. All this tests, good ideas and can be use, but, this is test for checking of parameters of camera, but, this test do not help you, if you will need adjust of camera. Very good idea, I use of this idea at my personal tests of cameras with film. You can process of photo film at any photo lab and to order of prints of photos. But, you must glue a some length of exposed film at beginning of photo film because, you will need have some length of film for load of film into film magazine. Good idea. If we told about 15EPSS motor, you can replace of disk for manual rotate of axis of motor on crank ( similar of crank of Konvas-1 camera ). And, you can use of Photo flash with manual mode ( like Canon EZ-540) for exposing of every frame with fixed value of light. As for me, this test do not have real result. The any reflex cine camera must have correct adjusting of position of mirror disk and sharpness image on ground glass must give a sharpness image on film too. The similar test use for rangefinder photo cameras. As for cine cameras, you can use of similar test for checking of distance scale on lens, re-marking of distance scale on lens. The result will incorrect, because, the any camera have time for acceleration ( can be 0.25...0.5 sec ) and time for deceleration. As for me, i propose of change of test and set marks with crosses of zero frame, start an stop frames on the film. The distance between zero and start frames must be 100..200 frames. The distance between start and stop crosses must be 240 frames for 24 fps, 250 frames for 25 fps or any other quantity, multiply of speed of camera. You load film on film magazine, rewind film up to zero cross will set at centre of film track. After, you connect of film magazine on Konvas without lens and zero cross must be at film gate of camera. You start up of camera and look on film through lens mount of camera. Only you see of start cross, you start up of electronic watch, only you see of stop cross, you stop of electronic watch. The time of between start and stop crosses and numbers of frames between crosses will show you real speed of camera. The other simply test of speed of camera can have better result, if you will use screen of computer monitor and setup of difference frequency of frame scan. If the computer monitor have 75 Hz or 100 HZ frame scan, you runing of camera, and can adjust of speed of camera 25 fps by stoping frame line at screen of monitor.

  18. I do not know of NPR motor, but, i wish give you a some my ideas . I know very good of similar problem with original electronic of 17EP-16 APK motor of Konvas camera. This is motor have optical sensor on output axis with bulb and photodiode. From other side, the axis of motor have disk with cut. The system to read of signal from photodiode and control of parking function. I repair of many original electronics of 17EP-16 APK motors and the every electronics have " personal" condition of parking functions. The some motors parking of shutter for 2...3 turns, a some for 5..8 full turns. The condition of parking very depend on output axle load. The camera with film had better parking function from single motor only. The detailed study of parking function give me idea to control of forms of signal from sensor and output signals of next chips at scheme of parking function. But, at final, i have excellent parking functions with new, modern microprocessor system only. And any my experiments with original electronics do not give me of essential distinctions. I hope, this information can help you from "theoretical side". You need go from waveform and signal swing of parking sensor.
  19. Yes, You can use of D8 ( 2x8 ) films at 16 mm camera. D8 film have similar size of perforation and similar step between perforation. You will need re-wind of D8 film from 25 ft spool on 16 mm x 100 ft spool or standard core and load on 16 mm camera. D8 film have perforation with size :1,83x1,27 mm, step 3,81 mm 16 mm film, russian standard, have perforation 1,83 x1,27 , step 7,62 mm ( 3,81 + 3,81 = 7,62 )mm 16 mm kodak film have perforation 1,829 x 1,27 mm, step 7,62 mm ( ANSI number 1R,2R-3000 ) or step 7,605 ( ANSI number 1R,2R 2994 ). The next problem can be at film show, you will need load film on cine projector at correct perforation.

The original edition have 24/25 fps crystal sync speed and 8..32 fps variable speeds, can be upgrade on modern crystal sync speed control, base on microporcessors.   21. I can add:. The design of lens included module with aperture mechanism. This is disk with aperture blades inside and slit with moving ring. The outside ring with aperture scale connect with moving ring of aperture mechanism by long screw. And the real value of aperture ( on aperture mechanism) can be adjust by turn of body of aperture mechanism inside of main body of lens. That's why, i can suppose, the lenses have different value of real ( T ) aperture with similar position of aperture ring with scale. Need use of special devices or similar, hand made, devices for test and adjust of aperture control of lenses.

  24. Yes, This is one from better zoom lenses of USSR optical industry. A some additional information from side of optical technician. The spherical version of 35 OPF-18-1 zoom lens must be adjusted, must be adjusted of flange focal distance and other optical parameters. After, you can adjust of rear anamorphic adapter. If the spherical version of zoom lens will have bad adjust, the anamorphic version ( with rear anamorphic adapter ) will have too bad quality of image. OPF-18 very complex system of optical and mechanical parts, that's why, the every element to influence on final quality of image. For note. The front anamoprhc adapter for not change of zoom rate at spherical version of lens ( Like Foton, 35 OPF-19-1A). The rear anamoprhic adapter to change of zoom rate at spherical version of lens on 2x ( like 35OPF-7-1A, 35OPF-15-1A, 35OPF-18-1A and other ). The anamorphic zoom lenses with front anamoprhic element have more big size, and weight from similar zoom lenses with rear anamorphic components. The Anamorphic zoom lenses with rear anamoprhic components ask of more high level of precision adjusting.
