  1. Hi Curtis, Your d70 projects onto a 24x18mm frame, while your k-3 projects onto a 10.5x7.5mm frame. That is why it looks so different. If you were able to fit your Nikon zoom to your K-3, it would pretty much match the Meteor zoom. Kristian P.S. I perfectly agree with Ian´s reply, this was just my explanation.
  2. You get adjustable shutters, so why not adjustable gates. I mean, we are dreaming here...
  3. Thanks Gabriel, I will try a few different settings. h264 is the same as MPEG4, right? I have seen some videos on vimeo that seem almost free of compression "blocks" if you know what I mean. I guess it is not really a question of resolution, as some have been quite low res, but looked great. It is when you get those blocks of one colour (usually dark ones) that bugs me. Kristian
  4. Not really "work", but anyway. Just my son and me going for a picnic ;-) I used the Canon 50mm 1.4. http://www.vimeo.com/4341115 Does anyone have tips for a less compressed look on Vimeo? Thanks, Kristian
  5. Thanks a bunch, John Maybe you could give me some ideas for motor options that will give me sync upto 80 fps with this camera. I have seen some flat base motors, and will now keep my eyes open for a good deal on one of those <_< Kristian
  6. OK, so I got my Arri 2c and it looks really good. It has the high speed gate and motor and a PL-mount. I have run some dud film through and everything seems fine. But the speed control on the motor seems not to be the best. Some speed adjustment can be done, but not very much. When I change the input voltage, I can get different speeds...i.e. input 15v: variable speed 10-18 fps input 22v: variable 15-30 fps input 29v: variable 30-50 fps. I also have a speed controller by Cinetech with crystal sync for a few speeds as well as variable speed and digital readout. The controller has a couple of different connectors (see photos) What I would like to know is if there is anyway of connecting this controller to the wild high speed motor and get reliable speed control. Any input greatly apreciated  Thanks, Kristian
  7. My 5d records sound, and I am pretty sure the d90 does as well. The jello effect is not bad at all on the 5d, and on a tripod it is perfect for a sit down. The 30-to-25 fps issue I am working on... Kristian
  8. Hi all! This should be a really simple thing to do, but I just don´t get it. I am trying to put footage from my 5d into a 25 fps timeline, using all the frames, i.e. a slight slo-mo effect. But all I get is the footage squeezed in time and jumpy in appearance. Suggestions for settings to make this work? Thanks, Kristian
  9. Hi!, I don´t know anything about these, but anyway: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...%3D1&_rdc=1 Kristian
  10. I forgot to answer your question. I don´t see a reason why it would be a problem to make an adapter for Nikon-PL, but I have never seen one. The difference in FFD should be plenty of room for an adapter. I have seen adapters that go the other way, Nikon lenses to PL cameras. These have an optical element to correct for the greater FFD. If you find it, I would be interested too, so please let me know. Kristian
  11. Hi! Where did you find a pl-c-mount adapter for 25$? I am looking for one, but thought I´d pay 10-20 times that.... Thanks, Kristian
  12. That is my new baby! :D I just bought that 2c. Thought about the mags, but it´s a bit rich for my wallet at the moment Sorry, this was completely besides the point, I just got excited..... Kristian
  13. Thank you so much for your post Dave. Very informative and inspirational.
  14. I made a mistake in my listing of the Konvas, so it was deleted. I have relisted it now here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=330312038569
  15. Hi everyone! I just listed three cameras on ebay. Have a look if you are interested: Konvas: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=330311400758 Kodak K-100: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=330311300728 Arritechno: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=330311244151 The Konvas and K-100 are demonstrated on VIMEO. Thanks! Kristian
  16. I just got the 5d MKII yesterday. Will do some still and video testing today-fun-fun-fun. Canon 50mm 1.4, Nikon 60mm macro, 20mm and a Zenitar 16mm. Kristian
  17. Hi everyone, I feel kind of stupid for asking this, as I am 90% sure of the answer. I just need to be 100% Is focus distance measured from the film plane? Thanks in advance, Kristian
  18. OK, my interest has been sparked again :-) Thanks guys for your input on this issue for the original poster. I just pulled the old camera out and took a snap with a light filtered through a blue plastic lid I found in the kitchen. reversed colours in Gimp. Very quick and rough, but what was last time really hopeless looking now seems completely doable. I will attach my snap if this site will let me <_< Thanks again, Kristian P.S. Picture upload failed again. I have read several other people struggle. What am I doing wrong?
  19. Hi Stephen, I am certainly no expert on this, but I have done a little bit of fiddling around with it. I rigged an old 16mm camera to trigger my Nikon DSLR to take a photo every time the shutter is open. Then backlit the film from inside the camera and take a photo of the film itself from the outside of the gate with a macro lens. Seems quite doable although I never carried through with doing a lot of footage. Simply reversing the image in PS gives a horrible result - very blue and difficult to bring back to a normal colour balance. You will need to spend some time getting those colour correction settings right for it to be decent. Or you could shoot reversal film Please let me know how you get on with this. I may still give it another go one day - but there are just too many fun DIY 16mm projects to do ;-) I have converted a few cameras to s16 and built my own underwater housings so far. Best of luck, Kristian
  20. Thanks to both of you! Those are my thoughts exactly. I have just converted two of my own cameras to s16 DIY-style, and those numbers just didn´t make sense. I will be considering a scarlet/ikonoskop kind of camera later this year for digital capture. The Ikonoskop seems really good for what I want - mainly underwater shooting - but when the official website gives misleading information like this I get a bit weary.....Hmmm.. Those Scandinavians - can´t trust ´em ;) Kristian
  21. Hi! I have done some reading today about this camera and I am quite interested. However I was wondering what the deal with the s16-sized chip is. Here is from their website: Sensor CCD: 10,6 mm x 6 mm (Super-16) Since when was that the size of a s16mm frame? Or am I missing something here? Kristian
  22. Hi Tom! I am using Nikon lenses with my cameras (K-3 and Milliken with c-f adapter) The glass is good, but the problem is as you say wide angle - but also aperture. I have a 20mm and a Zenitar 16mm which are both good that I also use with my d700 for stills. They are both 2.8 :-( great wide angles for full frame, but of course not so wide for s16. 28mm would be even worse. Kristian P.S. I haven´t forgotten about your video assist question - coming soon.
  23. Hi Jennifer! I have actually done a little of this with a Sigma lens for Nikon on my K-3, and it was quite a hassle. As Tim says, the aperture will be closed down to the smallest aperture, not wide open if you just stick the lens on as it is. I cut little plastic wedges that I jammed into the lever mechanism on the lens that controls the aperture. I cut different size pieces for different apertures, but to change the aperture you´ll need to remove the lens from the camera and fiddle a bit. Not very practical, but it let me use both a sigma 10-20 and a nikon 300/2.8 which was quite cool. Good luck, Kristian
  24. Actually, I am quite sure I saw somewhere online that this was possible.... I can't remember where, but I really want to do the same thing to test some c-mount lenses. I guess the mirror would have to be locked up in the slr if you are to fit the c-mount far enough back. If anyone knows how to do this, I would also be very interested in this info. Waiting in suspense.... Kristian
