  1. Thanks for all of the suggestions guys. I'll try them out next week and see which one gives me the result I'm looking for. For the fog, would those party place foggers work? Or should I look for something else?
  2. So a 60w lamp and some foil around the outside to create a cylinder? Here's a crude picture of the second question.
  3. I'm doing a short adaption of The Tell Tale Heart and there are two scenes that require a special type of lighting that I'm not quit sure about how to pull off. Of course, it's no-budget so keep that in mind. I don't see how the lights I have can pull it off, two 600w Smith-Victors and a 250w & 100w Lowell Pro-Light. Being shot digitally in HD on a small HV20. One scene calls for one eye to be lit only. Obviously the rest won't be completely black but one eye needs to be illuminated pretty well. Once the eye is closed and once they eye is open. I don't want to blind the actor either. This is the basic idea in a quick Photoshop job. The second one, and I'm not sure how to do it except in post, is a ray of light focusing on the eye, from across the room. Any help would be much appreciated.

  6. So, basically it's done by film hour? If I have an hour of 16mm footage, I would be charged for an hour of telecining, plus any extraneous costs (developing, the HDD, etc.)? Now if I did ti supervised the hour will then turn into two hours? Am I getting it correct?
  7. I cant seem to figure out a rough ballpark figure of telecining 8mm and 16mm. Can anybody give me a rough estimate per foot or roll (however you had it done) and how you had it delivered (you supplied the HDD, rented it or received it on disk).

  14. What's the type of camera mount that was used in Requiem for a Dream and seems to be used in all of the "reality" ghost shows nowadays? It's the one that's attached to the body and moves with it to keep the body pretty centered. Here's a clip of what I'm talking about!

  19. They're actually inside of a diner. I've done the blocking cheat, and works to some extent. I think with the addition of a 35mm adapter, and some block cheating, I can get pretty close to that look.

  21. Thanks for the link Hal. That calculator will come in VERY handy. My vid camera is an HV20, far from a 2/3. But I'm leaning towards getting/building a DOF adapter. It's tough (impossible) getting a shallow depth of field in a room with my camera. Yeah, not everything has to have DOF/FOV but it's a nice option to have and it gets tiring having everything and their mother under the sun in focus!

  23. ...to get the over the typical over the shoulder shot? Is it always a zoom to create the depth of field or am I wrong to think that a zoom only constitutes a lens that goes from 100 to 1000? I assume so, but, I've seen this type of shot in rooms where it seems a zoom cannot be used due to space limitations. I'm a total newb when it comes to lens talk. All I really know is wide angle=everything in focus/exaggerates depth and zoom=different focal plains/flattening depth. Here is an example of a shot I'm talking about where the background and foreground are out of focus and the middleground is in focus. Edit: Ahh crap, I posted it in the wrong forum. If a mod can move it, that would be great! :angry:
