  5. hey thanks Tyler, sorry I didnt get back sooner. You know this is good sound advice and I appreciate that. too often than not, i think its human nature or something like that, i get carried away with all the little projects that i trying to figure out that i dont concentrate on the one in hand, or in the wise words of yoda - "All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph. Adventure. Heh. Excitement. Heh. A Jedi craves not these things." r

  8. Hi, is there any quality/sharpness lost when using the adapter?/ i have a 100 POE to use on a rex 5, thanks!!
  9. hi i am going to be shooting a little short thats coming up soon - thats in a local shop with flourescents overhead. I was thinking to turn them off. considering that I am a novice in terms of lighting, I was wondering what the best way was to go about it. I will be shooting on kodak 500t, and I have a big window at the front with lots of natural light coming in. So if I light inside with tungsten lights, will I have to gel the whole of the window to compensate for the 500t? Thanks for your time, R
  10. well, the place where i go in my dreams most nights - cane hill lunatic asylum London - Urbex (cane hill)
  11. Yes the images are from the viewing dvd. I was using a bolex rex 5 with a 10mm rx switar I believe, I had a 75mm with 7201 film (half of which was test stock that was a couple of years old but was suprisingly ok in the end - i even had the audacity to take it through xrays in the airport, a gamble that paid off thankfully) so say a festival projected this - would full image be shown? and all that dirt at the top therefore must be the camera's fault - heres a better example; thanks for your reply,
  12. Actually I noticed something strange on the viewing copy DVD. When I play it through my television the border at the top is not visible, but when I play through my computer, there appears to be tiny hairs?/ extra black border? Does anyone know why this would happen? thanks
  13. http://www.guiding-lights.org.uk/2008/index.html dont know whether its useful to anyone, just heard about it..
  14. that should be "i am happy with about 10%"
  15. I thought Id put this out there because I had help from forum members while I was tearing my hair out over the technicians who respooled my film with masking tape. The lab I used for the telecine and processing however was fantastic and I cant praise them highly enough....i havent started editing so i thought id put up pictures to bore you anyhow. I am not happy with 10% of what we got, but its hard shooting run and gun style, in the heat and all...thanks
  16. i am actually into card magic at the moment, trying to perfect my revolution cut and a few "mentalist" tricks, ala Derren Brown, has he been over to America yet?
  17. I was just wondering. When i see lots of film on ebay i get a real urge to buy it...but i really dont know what i would do with this amount; my mistake 16mm  ebay auction
  18. Well, its inevitable that we should start discussing cats on a cinematography site. Its better it happens sooner rather than later. Introducing El Gruffalo AKA Barney AKA Big Friendly Gato
  19. long time ago now though its water under the bridge, wow thanks for all the responses, i have been in india filming and completely forgot about this thread,
  20. argh! no thats a shame, i always hear of stories of things that i need being thrown out - i cant take it no more :/
  21. Does anyone know where I could hire a 16mm rostrum camera for some photos i need filmed?/ I know of Nowhere lab but there must be other places as well, thanks, R
  22. Hi, I liked the beginning - there was a sense of the story being really open - and the acting where one chap sneaks up behind him, is quite naturalistic. I think that level is not reached again. The idea of them finding the tape recorder of the future I liked, but it could have been even more kooky - if you pushed the idea further perhaps - it could have been a really strange little self referential loop like they've entered a wormhole in the woods thats sucked them into xanadu. (Actually this happened to me last week) The camerawork - i am no expert, but perhaps you could introduce handheld shots in a bit earlier, specially when the guy does scare the other, the way they stood seemed quite formal combined with the tripod safeness. I like the revolving shot in the woods...perhaps the ending could have been punchier?/ not sure about them walking - backing off like that...apart from that the idea I liked, could be a springboard for other ideas thats for sure - food for thought and all, ok thanks for listening to me, r
  23. I have just been looking at the uk film councils short completion fund (which i think the deadline is somewhere in april). I am a bit confused here, so i was wondering if anyone was more wise of it. Now as far as I can see, its a fund for post production - i am halfway through completing my short, so I suspect that I am not eligible. how are short filmmakers in the uk going to raise the capital to shoot in the first place to have the short ready for post ? - i have been doing odd jobs but working with film is so expensive i have to start looking for other help...
