  1. . I have also converted mine to have a reflex viewfinder so I can use other lenses with ease. Pav Can you explain a little bit more, what you done ?
  2. Hi Will, if you have no money, begin with K3. An incredible cam for that price, with an amazing fast and sharp lens. No sync of course, all in post. You can look here, http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/k3/ but there is a great amount of infos all around, especially here.
  3. OK, I understand what you need. As far as I know, there is no more special gear to "extend" the viewfinder. You just need to buy an HR door. Or perhaps a dead HR with the right door. It seems that all BH doors works, including Filmo's for Eyemo's... Phil http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/filmo70dr/
  4. I don't understand quite well what you are asking for. Can you send some pics ? Anyway, if you speak franch, you can send me a PP because my english is so poor...
  5. Removing the loop formers is very easy and fast. You can chek here http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/k3/ and you will find the links to the tutorial videos. I would not pay 225 S for that... Another thing : i would not use the close-up filter because it soften focus. It is easier to just unscrew a little bit the lens and you will see you can focus more closer. focus is perfectly sharp in this case, and this is very easy to do...
  6. Hi, As far as I know, there is no way to adjust viewfinder one by one finders. Try to remove them from different places and see if something is changing. Or try another finder, especially 1" which are most common. They are not expensive. One has something been moved in it. Anyway, it doesn't matter the "real" lens focus, just not very handy if it not absolutely sharp when you shoot. Here you can find Filmo's manual : http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/liens-utiles/
  7. Hi all, I don't know if it is the good place for this topic, anyway somebody will remove it in the the right place. I got a nice 16mm Siemens 2000 projector, very clean, but lamp does not light at all. I carefully examined it, seems very well, with no cut filament. So I suppose there is a fuse for it in this machine. But where ? Anybody got an idea ?
  8. some pictures here : http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/trucs-et-machins/ Hope this help...
  9. Hi Rudy, Why not ? But my blog "philosophy" is about two cheap and sturdies cameras. And K3 and Filmo are very little expensive... Moreover they have spring motor and this is the point. the Kinor is actually pretty cheap, but the specialist of this camera is, by far, Olex. The focus of my blog is rather to gather all the helpful tips and small practical ideas, such as which is for the K3, to focus very close by simply unscrewing the objective ... 10. Hi Ian, your Arri adapter idea for K3 bayonet is exciting. I hope you'll have the time and inclination to go to the development of a prototype, it could open a lot of opportunities at a fairly low price actually. Because the "philosophy" of the K3 is that it is a cheap, convenient and good quality camera. A "Jeep" somehow ... Phil
  11. Here is a link to the 16mm B&H magazine, if you want to reload it... http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/trucs-et-machins/ Sorry, still in french, not translated yet.
  12. As far As I know, N-4x is a 2 stop filter... Mine is this name and two stop unter the lighmeter.
  13. I got one 2m before it was stollen. Rock steady image. Very good lens (10/100) but no matter to try other brand lenses, until you change the mount. Quite quiet, not silent.
  14. Hi all, I began a new little blog for cheap spring 16mm cameras. It is about K3 and also Bell & Howell Filmo 70. And others later (Bell/Howell Autoload for exemple). It is french spoken, but I try to translate piece by piece, with my poor english. For Filmo, there is so little info that I decided to try this. For Krasno, many infos here and there, but i got the most important things to know and check at the beginning when you never got one K3. Be kind, it only a beginning, tell me what you think I have forgotten. you can glance here : http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/ By the way, anybody knows a good web audiovisual and cinema dictionnary ? Phil
  15. By the way, a 50' magazine is 1'20 à 24 fps...
  16. Very difficult to find. Alan Gordon enterprise was selling it. http://www.alangordon.com/rental/film-cameras/16mm/16mm.php "GORDON G.S.A.P. MINICAM-16 CAMERA KIT Day Rate $125.00 This classic Bell & Howell G.S.A.P. (Gun Sight Aiming Point) 16mm camera, famous for its footage of World War II air-to-air combat, has been completely modernized for today's action filming. Lightweight, and small enough to pack into a camera bag, the Minicam-16 is frequently mounted onto a helmet for exciting bike racing, skiing, motor racing , skydiving shots, etc. The camera is easily mounted on the sides of vehicles, bikes, airplanes, etc. for those unusual point-of-view sequences coveted by action directors. The Gordon G.S.A.P. Minicam-16 weighs less than 2.5 lbs and its dimensions are 3.5"H x 2.5"W x 6"L. The camera accepts a 50' magazine load and comes complete with 24V DC batteries, chargers, power cable with in-line switch, Huber mount, and adjustable L bracket." anyway, this kind of magazine is only for 2R film and very difficult to load by your own. you can find hat at : http://www.javaphoto.com/16mmpage.html 16MM MAGAZINE CAMERAS we have several Kodak and B&H Magazine 16mm cameras these are wind up cameras that take 50' 16mm magazines I use one often $129 to $150 with 25mm lens we have plenty of plus x 16mm magazine film for these cameras $45/roll we have kodak plus x reloads $10 each (50') the mags can be reloaded with any 16mm film
  17. Hi all, "Krasno, Filmo and Co…" is becoming more and more "Grip, tips and tricks / Prise en main, trucs et astuces". As you can see, I try to translate, step by step, all the french in english too, because I want it help as far as possible. By the way, anybody knows a good web audiovisual and cinema dictionnary ?
  18. I am beginning some english translation in it, very poor english translation... Don't hesitate to tell me if I do wrong...!
  19. Hi all, I began a new little blog for cheap spring 16mm cameras. It is about Filmo 70 and also K3. And others later (Bell/Howell Autoload for exemple). It is french spoken, but I hope you can translate via Googgle. Perhaps an english translation later. For Filmo, there is so little info that I decided to try this. Be kind, it only a beginning, tell me what you think I have forgotten. you can glance here : http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/ Phil
  20. As far as I know; Claire's knee is shot on 35mm (With Nestor Almendros). It is only around early 80's that Rohmer will be back to super16 ("back to amateur filming" as he liked to say) because it was more light and handy.
  21. Thank you Dom for these links. Apecity one is incredible ! I knew the other one... At last, I found what i was looking for. It is here, nice for all Filmo owners : http://fm.hunter.cuny.edu/handbook/production1/prod/prod_manual-filmo.pdf Very simple but perfect.
  22. Hi, I just began a little site for Filmo and krasno, special tips about it and so on... http://krasnofilmoandco.wordpress.com/ I am looking for the URL where was "the filmo/a technical manual, compiled and written by renato Tonelli". Impossible to find it, maybe it disapearred. If not, be kind to show me the way, because it's a nice and easy little book for the beginners with that camera. By now, it only french speaking (that's why my english) but perhaps I could make an english site if it is usefull... Thanks by advance, Philippe
  23. <<<<<If I were to convert my camera to super 16 I would need to recenter the lens so I could use my zoom again. If I re-centered the lens would i be able to use any other m42 lens on my now newly modified K3 or would every lens have to be re-centered individually? Heres a video I shot with my K3: I get scratches but it doesn't bother so much. I guess its those loop informers! If I remove them will the camera jam more or will the camera run smoother? <<<<<<<<<< You can convert your K3 to S16, but you can (I suppose) convert it to ultra16 if you want this kind of frame. Meteor zoom can be a very good lens (after matching them...), so better than still lenses, especially in wides. And so, no re-centering... There is no scratches when you pull off the loop-former, a very simple thing to do. Peleng8mm is a nice and crazy lens, but a bit soft... Last advice : you can focus more close than 2m with the meteor zoom : just unscrew the lens a little bit and it will focus perfectly as close as you want...
  24. Hi everybody, Is there a place where I can get Pathe Webo 16mm camera manual ? I met a guy whith an old one that he don't know anything about it, but want to work a little bit with. I want to help him but it seems a little bit hard (strange) to do. Don't want to do a mistake. So THE camera manual would be nice...
  25. Just my opinion : Try to get a good one at a good price with M42 mount on Ebay. A good one is one with a good steady registration and the best zoom you can find. Regular spring, about 25s is OK. If lightmeter work, it's perfect. If it seems not good enough for you , you resell this one and buy another. For Super16, just modify the gate and go with still lenses, without re-centering the mount. If you want to re-center the mount, any precision technical will do it for you at a low price. In this case, some people say that Zoom work at any focal. As far as I know, you will never get a fullframe viewing with the viewfinder. K3 can be a very good camera, not enough to buy it such a high price like 5/800 dollars. I prefer buy a good 8mm Peleng and a 16mm zenitar for a handy using. After that, there are so many good photo lenses to work with... Another thing you NEED to do (very easy) : remove these damned loopers, they are here only to jam the film !
