  1. Hey everybody, at the end of november my colleague and I will travel to CapeTown in South Africa to do some fashionshoots. We'll need to rent a Jib for our BlackMagic Production Camera. Does anybody know a good rentalcompany in CapeTown? Thanks Benny
  2. Just finished a film and selling (3) Super 16 lenses. All of them were overhauled by Abelcine and the gears renewed with teflon a month ago by VP. The are all super clean, project sharp and clear. Only a few cleaning marks on them due to age. The 50mm Illumina is super sharp. If you buy a random lens on Ebay, you will most likely have to pay $$ to get it up to speed. That work has already been done to these. Zeiss 16mm MKIII s/n 7500048 Zeiss 25mm MKIII s/n 7500143 Optar Illumina 50mm s/n 9725013 Send me a PM, sensible offers welcome. Selling individual or as a set. I have receipts, more pics, and details. Thanks, Martin
  3. Does anyone have any experience with this lens? Either on the bolex or otherwise? I believe it is C-mount, and I was hoping to maybe pick one up to test out on a pocket cam. Just wondering if anyone has any positive or negative experiences adapting it to a M43 mount.
  4. Hey guys, what are your thoughts on the new Blackmagic Ursa? In need of 4K so I can be more flexible with clients when they want to zoom in on an image. Is it worth the buy? Thanks!
  5. Hi There, I would like to share with you my first job as a DOP. This was a short film for the BFI 48hours SCI FI Challenge. We where given a title, an action and a line of dialogue on Saturday morning around 11am and had 48 hours to finish. The film was filmed, edited, scripted and finished in 48 hours. This short was filmed using a Blackmagic Production 4K Camera with 13 Prime Canon EF lenses ranging from 8mm to 300mm. Let me know your thoughts... Enjoy it.
  6. This is perhaps a stupid question, but I'm not an electrical engineer nor a computer programmer so I was hoping perhaps someone on here can shine some light on this. The new Black Magic Ursa's selling point is that it's going to be upgradable so it will (theoretically) never go obsolete. I know the sensor can be changed out. For example, if some day 6K becomes the next "big thing", many people assume you're just going to be able to purchase a 6k sensor for an upgrade. But is it really that simple? I would imagine if you upgrade the sensor, you would have to upgrade the processing power for the upgraded resolution and I see nothing mentioned about that. Any thoughts? It sounds too good to be true, as It reminds me of another company that promised a modular upgrade system that never ended up that way.
  7. 2 more cameras from Blackmagic! The Blackmagic Studio HD and The Blackmagic Studio 4K cameras: Heres my article on it here: http://www.redsharknews.com/production/item/1594-blackmagic-release-studio-cameras Freya
  8. I thought I'd put this here since I didn't seem to get a response in the other section. I'm currently the DoP on a short film called "Circadium" being shot in Rochester. We're shooting on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. I figured since I learn something new every day on this forum, maybe you would all like to see how this film progresses. We shot the first scene of the film on our first day of shooting, which was this morning and afternoon. I'll try to get more framegrabs of future scenes from my director, I just have 2 for now, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Shot on BMPCC, ISO400, ProRes Film, Nikon Speedbooster and Nikon AF-S 17-35/Vintage Macro
  9. I received a loaner BMPC 4K for the weekend and did a few test shots. It's an interesting machine, not without faults, but quite wonderful if you keep it in its sweet-spot (which is anything under ISO 800) http://www.adammyhill.com/blackmagic-production-camera-4k-thats-what-they-call-it/
  10. Hi everybody. Urgent question. I'm in the process to get Sponsorship for our documentary, we'll shoot with a BlackMagic Pocket Cam. We have 2 options for the Zoom Lenses we'll going to use: 1. Arri-Zeiss Zoom 11-110 S16mm PL Mount 2. Zeiss Compact Zoom CZ.2 28-80 T2.9 We're aware that both are great lenses. The S35 Compact Zoom would demand a Metabones Adapter, but that's no problem at all. I wonder which would you guys pick and WHY? Of course the S35 one is new, and that might be a benefit. Thoughts? Thanks, F
  11. Hey all, Just wanted to share a new music video that I directed. The video is for a Seattle band called Iska Dhaaf and features cameos by many current Seattle musicians including Macklemore and members of The Lonely Forest. Entire video was shot with two Blackmagic Cinema Cameras. We used a variety of Nikkor lens from 1970s to get the look. Project was cut in Premiere CC and graded in Resolve. Check it out and let me know what think. Thanks!
  12. Hi, I'm a 25 year old DP in Glasgow, Scotland. I've just shot my first anamorphic short film for the 48 hour film project. I tried out some new lighting gear I'd never used: a polecat, super clamps, loads of 300W and 150W fresnels, and a 4x4 kino. I was also learning how to focus the anamorphic adapter on the job. Luckily I had a fast learning 1st AC! We won an award for best digital effects, but unfortunately no real feedback on the production otherwise - so I wanted to get some feedback on the cinematography in general. Just looking for constructive criticism if you've got some. Be brutal. http://player.vimeo.com/video/80835548 Thanks for your time. Much appreciated, - Darren
  13. for sale or trade is my lovely Century Optics 16:9 adapter. It is a front mount 1.33x squeeze anamorphot that is quite sharp. It has a 58mm rear thread which make is useful with dslrs and cameras like the blackmagic cinema camera for shooting true 2.35 cinema-scope image when use with a 16:9 sensor. No cropping, use the entire sensor for maximum resolution. It also comes with a clamp on sun shade that has a series 9 filter mount in the front. Also included are six diopters for shooting close ups. With this adapter, you loose some of the minimum focus you previously had, so these diopters get that back making sharp focus with in five feet possible. It does vignette at wider angle on different cameras, so you have to test. Keep in mind though, that with the increased field of view width wise, you don' t need to have as wide a lens as you do when shooting spherical. Here are some pictures, video samples to follow. Asking 950 US for the lot. It is in excellent condition and creates beautiful blue flares. I am also willing to trade plus cash for a Panasonic LA-2700 anamorphic adapter. It's size and rear thread better suit my needs.
  14. Hey, I´m selling three Arri Ultra 16 Primes, all in excellent condition. http://www.ebay.de/itm/190880216668?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1558.l2649 Thanks for watching! Best .t
  15. CANON 11.5-138mm T/2.5 ZOOM CINEMA LENS SUPER 16 PL for sale ONE OF THE BEST SUPER16 ZOOM LENSES AROUND. SUPERB CONDITIONS. PERFECT GLASS. SMOOTH FOCUS. NEVER RENTED. Lens: 11.5-138 Canon T-Stop: 2.5 Mount: PL Min. Focus: 3ft. 6in. Weight (lbs): 3.75 Front Dia.: 95mm PL Mount. Perfect for Arri and Aaton super16 cameras and digital cinema cameras with sensor size up to Super16 .It works on RED cameras if these are used in 2K resolution (I personally shot a music video in this way and the images looked great). It should be perfect for the new Digital Super16 cameras like the Bolex D16 (http://www.digitalbolex.com/products/bolex-d16/) and the Ikonoskop A-Cam dll (http://www.ikonoskop.com/dii/) with PL adapters, since these have Super16-sized sensor. It should also work on the new Blackmagic Cinema Camera, according to an article on EOSHD.com, where they tested a very similar lens (Canon 8-64 PL) on that camera and it worked well. They only noticed a slight vignette at 8mm but this lens should not have that problem, as its minimum focal length is 11.5mm. See the article here (http://www.eoshd.com/content/9447/hurt-locker-lens-canon-8-64mm-t2-4-pl-zoom-perfect-companion-for-the-blackmagic-cinema-camera) Full details and more photos on BBlist: http://www.bblist.co.uk/item.php?item=34974 GBP 3,300. The lens is located in London - UK. Any inspection welcome. Collection in person is preferred, however I can ship it anywhere (shipping costs not included). For info: hello --at-- mzo --dot-- tv Thank You!
  16. To anyone here who uses DaVinci Resolve (full or Lite), you may be interested to know that version 9.1 was released today. The update includes retina support for Apple's Macbook, including the 15" Retina Macbook Pro. It also includes an enhancement for the CinemaDNG format, which is used by the Blackmagic Cinema Camera. The Resolve product manager has posted full details about the update to the Blackmagic forums, here: http://forum.blackma....php?f=3&t=4253 The update can be downloaded via the Blackmagic Support page: http://www.blackmagi...gn.com/support/
