The original plastic capped cork closure rotted away, and I replaced it with a silicone cork. This is the original color of the mead. I have not been following mead for some years, but I was into mead pretty big in the 1990s. If you don’t know what mead is, it is an ancient, fermented wine or alcoholic drink made from honey. Moniack Mead was made from caramelized Heather honey in Inverness, Scotland. It is a dessert mead on the sweet side. If you like ice wine or German Trockenbeerenauslese, you probably would have liked this. You can skip the next 3 paragraphs if you are only interested in the mead. They discuss travel in Europe in the 1990s. I found out about Moniack Mead while in Europe. (England / Scotland) I did a lot of traveling in the 1990s. I’d could go to Europe for $198 - $325 round trip air in the off season. The hotels were also cheap in the off season and crowds were smaller. I would bring a hotplate, pots, pans and cook in my room. I’d go to one country at a time and lived like a local for a couple of weeks; shopping at the supermarkets and eating in my room. I’d take day trips about. I don’t like to travel changing rooms every day or two. I like comfort, at least as much comfort as my meager budget allows. A couple of times I would cook on the closed toilet lid as the bathroom had the only good outlet in the room to plug my 220v converter in. Think cheap hotel! I’ve never been rolling in money, but I don’t let that stop me. I learned to lock up my cooking gear in the luggage as it was confiscated by the maid in Paris when I left it out. That was on my first trip to Europe around 1990. I would use the ledge on the window in Paris to store my cheese. Kinda like a half-ass refrigerator. It was in a courtyard where the sun did not shine and there was no view. So, it worked fine for that in the winter. I remember buying some nice shrimp at a market in Madrid, Spain. The shrimp still had the heads still on. I took them back to my room and cooked them on the closed toilet. Best shrimp I ever had. I thought to myself, why don’t we have shrimp like that in the USA. Well, lots of great stuff in Europe back then. Cheeses in Paris, Beers in Germany, Delectables in Spain, Halva and sweets in Greece. Maybe things have gone downhill since then, dunno. I stopped going to Europe in the early 2000s. What does all this have to do with mead? Nothing. Just a little hope for the broke crowd to make some of your dreams come true even if on a low budget. Anyway…after writing to the maker of Moniack Mead in Inverness, Scotland, I was told it is not sold in the U.S.A., but it is sold in Canda. The mead maker himself wrote me back from Scotland. He was an old guy that either handwrote the letter or typed it out on an old school typewriter. I can’t remember which. I just thought that he is behind the times either way, as that was the age of the word processor, LaserJet printer or dot matrix printer at the least. Whatever the case, he made fantastic mead! In the letter he told me a little something about how he made the mead and referred me to his agent in Canada, as that was the closest source for Moniack Mead. I made snail mail contact with a guy who worked as the agent for Moniack in Canada. He would ship me half cases of Moniak Mead at 2x the bottle retail price plus shipping. I think they were maybe $12 a bottle in Canda, so I paid him $24 per bottle or thereabouts. On the last case he stiffed me. But luckily his girlfriend made it right, shipping me the last case. I don’t remember if it came Postal or UPS, or what he said were the contents; but it never had trouble getting through customs. I don’t know if you could do that nowadays. This bottle shown here is about 1/4 full. I had a sip today, just for old times’ sake. I keep it as a memento. Surprisingly it is still drinkable after nearly 3 decades, which will be in 2028. And the last 2 decades it has had air in the bottle! Maybe it is like Madeira wine and it only goes downhill so far and becomes fossilized. But I don’t think this is fortified like Madeira. It is 14.6% alcohol as it is. Well, from what I gather, the old mead maker passed on or sold out or retired. The young’uns took over / sold out the company long ago and that was it for Monaick Mead. I’ve had hundreds of meads back in the day. In my opinion, the original Moniack Mead, at its time, was one of the best in the world! Here is what is sold nowadays under the Moniack Mead label. From what I gather it is a dry style mead. The color is much lighter than the original. 2. Siren Synthesis Portfolio of AI Girls D. D. Teoli Jr. A. C. : D. D. Teoli Jr. A. C. : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive I am no expert on AI or computers, but I see lots of AI on YouTube. So that is my connection to AI. Being an archivist, if I see something noteworthy, I archive it. A year ago I made a file in the archive on AI related to the visual arts. I made this film (editing and post work) in about 2-1/2 hours. This was after I shot the individual videos on YouTube the day before. Maybe that took me 15 minutes or less. The entire film was made with a screen recorder. Music was as recorded at YouTube. I could never be a film editor or do tedious work on the computer 8 hours a day. Just doing this little film job made my stomach ulcer start to act up. Too much concentration for my brain capacity, I guess. Whatever it is, concentrated computer work and I do not mix. But it could also be something like bumper-to-bumper traffic in L.A. that irritates the ulcer and has no computer involved. Certain things irritate the ulcer, including writing text on the computer too long. It starts as a gnawing / burning pain on the right side under my ribs. So, if you get the same type of feeling, check it out. I have had this since the late 1990s. Just something you manage. And if you manage it right, it just is not a problem. My filmmaking is usually pretty straightforward and fast, so it usually is not an issue. And even if I wanted to spend a lot of time on a film or project, I have too many films and projects to do to screw around with any one of them for too long. If you see something interesting / noteworthy...archive it and upload to the Internet Archive. You never know when your contribution will be the last extant record of it for the historical record. ...just do good work and don't put up low-res garbage. <><><><> Selection from catalog collection. 4. I don't know about the rest of the film, but I don't believe it would be that rare to justify this price. I don't know how much of the Nazi related material is on the film either. From the sample images it didn't look to be all that much. This is one of the highest priced 16mm home movies sold on eBay I've ever seen. (But it may not be the highest priced if measured in feet.) 11. Hey all, I was recently drafting my personal contract which I was taking from Imagos template contract for DPs. Here is the template: https://www.imago.org/images/pdfs/CINEMATOGRAPHERS/MODEL%20CONTRACT%20FOR%20AUTHORSHIP%20-%20version.22.01.08.pdf . In article 7.2, its speaks to Copyright Collective Socities. I understand the purpose of these copyright collectives, but after some searching, did not find any socities of note in America that cover motion picture professionals. Since this is from Imago, are these Socities more common in Europe than America? Does anyone have any more info on joining a Copyright collective?

  18. Hi! Since it's a tradition here to introduce oneself in the first post... I am DP based in Riga, Latvia, doing mostly documentary work and web/TV ads, also making a short and a feature this year. Shooting a lot of HDCAM on F900, some Beta SP and Super-16/35, gaffing as well. Native Russian-speaker, so excuse my English. Powering moderately big fixtures off household circuits has already been discussed on the forum, but everybody was talking 120V US-standard. Maybe we should have a thread for 220V power? In Latvia we've got 230V/16A on some of the wall outlets and generally 230V/10A. The wiring is 1,5-2,0mm2 (14-16AWG) of severely overloaded aluminium in flats and 4/0 alu house feeder everywhere but in the newest buildings. 2K tungsten and 1,2K HMIs work fine, but what about the bigger lights? Do I really risk burning the location when doing a tie in for say a 6K, if to take that the wiring is such rubbish? On the next show I'm going to run an LTM Cinepar 2500W in a Soviet block of flats. The ballast is magnetic Alimarc 2,5K, so no problems with power factor and harmonics. It draws 14A on 220V when running, but what's the usual HMI startup current - 1,5-2x the "paper" amps? No genny this time so we're tying in to a 16A "private" line. I'm quite sure it'll trip the 16A breakers, but will it basically ignite from a 16A circuit? One of my colleagues says yes, should I beleive? What about a 4K off a 25A stove outlet?
  19. Hello, I have navigated through the forum to see if this question was answered before and I have not found anything, if somebody thinks that the question was already answered, please, let me know as I was not able to find any thread. So, I am preparing a project which is going to be shot on 35mm and I would like to cross process negative as reversal stock as it is something I have done before when shooting stills. I know usually people go the other way around and I know that it would be much easier. However, I want to achieve certain tones in the city I am going to shoot at that can only be achieved with that kind of processing and I do not know if it is possible to go that way in cinema labs. I have talked with some labs in Europe and they do not know where I can process negative as reversal. If somebody has done this before, would you mind sharing the contact details of the lab where you processed it and some info you might consider interesting? Thank you very much. Kindest regards.
  20. Hello! I'm currently in my final year of my Bachelors in Mass Media. I would like to know if there are any Cinematography specific courses anywhere in the world for that matter which are 2 years or maybe even 3 years. I've looked at the NYFA so far because they've been advertising like a boss but I still have my doubts about them. Please do reply , really appreciate it!
  21. Hi Everyone! Looking for some information! I'm an Australian researching a move to Europe to study script writing. My two passions are actually script and set design and I'm looking for film schools that offer great hands on courses. I completed my undergraduate degree with a minor in film and am now looking for some further study opportunities to expand my script writing experience. It doesn't have to be a master's, just an opportunity to write and make new connections in film. Thanks for your time! Kind Regards, Adrianna
