  1. Hey all, I was recently drafting my personal contract which I was taking from Imagos template contract for DPs. Here is the template: https://www.imago.org/images/pdfs/CINEMATOGRAPHERS/MODEL%20CONTRACT%20FOR%20AUTHORSHIP%20-%20version.22.01.08.pdf . In article 7.2, its speaks to Copyright Collective Socities. I understand the purpose of these copyright collectives, but after some searching, did not find any socities of note in America that cover motion picture professionals. Since this is from Imago, are these Socities more common in Europe than America? Does anyone have any more info on joining a Copyright collective?

  6. Hello! I am 25 and I want to try to get in some Film Academy in 2016/2017. I am passionate about documentary directing. My first goal is to try FAMU in Prague. But If you know more good schools, please feel free to tell me about them. I can pay around 1000 euro per year, more than that would be too expensive. Hope you will help me <3

  8. Hi! Since it's a tradition here to introduce oneself in the first post... I am DP based in Riga, Latvia, doing mostly documentary work and web/TV ads, also making a short and a feature this year. Shooting a lot of HDCAM on F900, some Beta SP and Super-16/35, gaffing as well. Native Russian-speaker, so excuse my English. Powering moderately big fixtures off household circuits has already been discussed on the forum, but everybody was talking 120V US-standard. Maybe we should have a thread for 220V power? In Latvia we've got 230V/16A on some of the wall outlets and generally 230V/10A. The wiring is 1,5-2,0mm2 (14-16AWG) of severely overloaded aluminium in flats and 4/0 alu house feeder everywhere but in the newest buildings. 2K tungsten and 1,2K HMIs work fine, but what about the bigger lights? Do I really risk burning the location when doing a tie in for say a 6K, if to take that the wiring is such rubbish? On the next show I'm going to run an LTM Cinepar 2500W in a Soviet block of flats. The ballast is magnetic Alimarc 2,5K, so no problems with power factor and harmonics. It draws 14A on 220V when running, but what's the usual HMI startup current - 1,5-2x the "paper" amps? No genny this time so we're tying in to a 16A "private" line. I'm quite sure it'll trip the 16A breakers, but will it basically ignite from a 16A circuit? One of my colleagues says yes, should I beleive? What about a 4K off a 25A stove outlet?

  11. Hello, I have navigated through the forum to see if this question was answered before and I have not found anything, if somebody thinks that the question was already answered, please, let me know as I was not able to find any thread. So, I am preparing a project which is going to be shot on 35mm and I would like to cross process negative as reversal stock as it is something I have done before when shooting stills. I know usually people go the other way around and I know that it would be much easier. However, I want to achieve certain tones in the city I am going to shoot at that can only be achieved with that kind of processing and I do not know if it is possible to go that way in cinema labs. I have talked with some labs in Europe and they do not know where I can process negative as reversal. If somebody has done this before, would you mind sharing the contact details of the lab where you processed it and some info you might consider interesting? Thank you very much. Kindest regards.
  12. Hello! I'm currently in my final year of my Bachelors in Mass Media. I would like to know if there are any Cinematography specific courses anywhere in the world for that matter which are 2 years or maybe even 3 years. I've looked at the NYFA so far because they've been advertising like a boss but I still have my doubts about them. Please do reply , really appreciate it!
  13. Hi Everyone! Looking for some information! I'm an Australian researching a move to Europe to study script writing. My two passions are actually script and set design and I'm looking for film schools that offer great hands on courses. I completed my undergraduate degree with a minor in film and am now looking for some further study opportunities to expand my script writing experience. It doesn't have to be a master's, just an opportunity to write and make new connections in film. Thanks for your time! Kind Regards, Adrianna
