  1. Is it possible to power an ARRI SR I/II with 14.8v gold mount batteries? I understand the voltage would need to be converted to a regulated 12v, but even then is it posing a risk? I happened upon this plate: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/839205-REG/Movecam_MOV_306_0208_BATTERY_BRACKET_FOR_GOLD.html I would have to use a 3-pin male LEMO to 4-pin XLR cable to take advantage of the regulated 12v output. Is that possible, or would it pose problems? Any insight would be dearly appreciated, as I'm quite uneducated when it comes to power supplies. Thank you!
  2. Hello! I have a Nizo S8 that requires a PX-13 battery for the light meter. I've done some research and found that the "Wein MRB625 1.35V Zinc-Air Battery" was made to replace it, but given that its availability isn't so accessible I'm looking at other options. I've read that the #675 hearing aid zinc-air battery can replace it, but have been seeing mixed reviews. Does anyone have any experience/insight on this? Wondering what my best option is. Thanks!
  3. Hi Group, I've just joined. I recently bought an Arri S 16mm on ebay. The camera has come from Italy and used to belong to RAI in Rome (Italian Public Broadcasting), which may explain some of the quirks; I live in the UK by the way. My intention is to use it to make a short 16mm film later in the year. Before that though, I need to get it working and to run a test film through it. Hopefully you'll be able to help me. I have included photos of all the issues raised below. I've attached all relevant photos. The camera came with two battery packs that don't work - the elements need chan
  4. We are trying to light a barn in a remote location at night. Even at over 100 feet, the generator is too loud to allow us do noise-reduction on the dialogue. All our lights are LEDs. The main 3 lights we want to use are the Aputure 300D (300w), and 2 Aputure Lightstorms (120w each). We are thinking about trying to hook together a couple of deep-cycle batteries with an inverter. The numbers say that we should be able to power all 3 lights for a few hours. But I thought we should ask the pros before making the purchase. I hate ADR!!! Rick

  8. I just bought a Sankyo XL-400S from eBay. The problem was that it wasn't included with any manual nor were there any instructions to access one. The first problem is how to load the batteries. I know it takes six 1.5 V batteries, but loading it is a bit of a problem. I'm assuming it's loaded in the handgrip, but it seems like the batteries need to be loaded in a special holder and then stuck into the handgrip. Of course, this is just my guess. I'm wondering if this is true. If it's true, does anyone know where to get the battery holders? Also, does anyone know where to access the manua
  9. We have recently taken over the distribution for a range of very high quality 14.8V V or Gold mount batteries. DSM Broadcast Power have been making batteries for over 35 years and are the only ones to our knowledge who can use factory fresh matched Panasonic cells direct from Japan. All batteries are assembled in UK and fully tested before sale and come with a 2 year warranty. They have an excellent reputation around Europe and are used by many broadcasters such as ZDF in Germany and Swiss TV. 98Wh V or Gold mount normally £190.00 - 20% discount for this forum means £152.00 Ex VA
  10. Hey, I just bought an SRIII but it only came with one battery. Anyone know where I could pick up a couple more? Or, does anyone know someone who could make a small onboard that could plug into the 4-pin xlr? Looking for new, used, aftermarket, 3rd party, whatever. Cheers!
  11. Gear Helps Camera Department's Smooth Production NEW YORK (April 29, 2015) - Cinematographers Eric Moynier and Michael Caracciolo shoot NBC's hit series, The Blacklist, with support from Anton/Bauer batteries, Litepanels fixtures, and OConnor fluid heads. Mostly shot on location - including Manhattan, the outer boroughs, Long Island, New York's Rockland and Westchester counties and the stages of Chelsea Piers - the show's dramatic storytelling is a perfect match for the tools. The Blacklist stars James Spader as ex-government agent Raymond "Red" Reddington, one of the FBI's Most Wante
  12. I've got one of the Beaulieu 4008 Pro8mm Max8 modified cameras, but I'm noticing that the battery life is pretty bad - It's supposed to last "50 rolls" but I'm barely getting through one. I think these are NiCads, which sucks, because of memory issues. I'm wondering if anyone has the schematics for these battery packs that I might look at, because I think I want to build my own. The way it's constructed, to take it apart is to basically ruin it (looks like it's basically a cluster of sub-c cells stuffed inside a big heat shrink tube. So there's no easy way to open it without destroying the cas
