Considering Aaton XTR? What to Watch out for compared to A 416?

Hi,

Just shot a commercial on the lovely Arri 416. Love that camera. Love S16. I live nowhere near any rental houses. Based in Norway. I have a Alexa 35 with WCU4, wireless monitoring, two S35 lens series. The new Pancro series and Atlas Orion.
Consudering an Aaton XTR to get to shoot more film. What to watch out for compared to the ARRI 416? I have a CF rf motor to get the wireless fiz control. How is the HD tap? V-lock adaptor? Loading?

Thinking of using the pancros when not renting S16 glass.
Any comparison or tips will be appreciated.

I have an XTR Prod and I am super happy with it.

1) You can get a  V-mount Adapter from: https://elokuvakonepaja.com/product/aaton-power-adapter/

      It has 3x 2-pin lemo outputs + 1 D-tap

2) I got my video tap upgraded by Visual Products again super happy with it. From what I understand pretty much all video tap upgrades use the same internal camera its just how they fit it in XTR body. AZ Spectrum just had a crazy long waiting list.

3) Check out charnwoodmovements on IG - https://www.instagram.com/charnwoodmovements/

      -Diffrent type of cheese plates

      -R/S module - that works with a AMC-1

      This is my set-up ---> https://www.instagram.com/p/CzbTj-Yoyqg/?img_index=1

Elokuvakonepaja was closed permanently in June2024 and applied for bankrupcy in August.

The site is still up but don't try to make any purchases, possible to lose the money even!

Thanks for tips!

checked out your instapost. It will fit inside the Movi Pro and work well? I have a Movi pro.
the HD looked good from your pictures. Easy to load the camera as well. Checked out YouTube. Will see if I can find a decent package. Hopefully owning that camera will make it easier to get to shoot film.

Fitting it In a Movi is quite tricky because the arms are a bit too short. That’s why most people use a Ronin 2.

Charnwoodmovements has this special plate that you remove the viewfinder from the camera and screw in a cheese plate on top to make the camera not so tall. I think he calls it a video top plate. I strongly recommend it I’ve used more times than I can remember that makes gimbal work much easier. But again you have no viewfinder so it’s good to have a good Video Tap.

Thanks again. Hope there is some one else who make a v-lock plate or even a b-mount. Have that as well.

I see. I have the Movi Pro. That is why I asked. No Ronin 2 in my part of the country.
