John Adolfi Posted October 25, 2006 Share Posted October 25, 2006 I have tired the metal pressure plate. It works and it steadies the picture about 20-50%. But I have never seen this Russian reloadable cartridge. Anyone have any experience with it? I'd love to see some close-ups of the gate area. Is it worth the hassle? I dunno however where to get s8 film on core, what I am doing, I use foma DS8 (www.jandcphoto.com) and split it before loading the cartridge. Doing this, you have 2x 10m cartridges for US8.99$. If you put the Frame Master in the cartridge, you get a very steady image, much better than without it! You can change it very quick from one cartridge to another. Then load your own cartridge with the metal plate. Or buy 50' cart. of film direct from Kodak and use you own reuseable plate. The only way to use this emulsion in the super8 format is to shoot in DS8 or use offers like the one from Wittner. But you can calculate it against the new Ektachrome 64T: If you buy 1000ft in 50ft cartridges (Wittner price), you have to pay US$ 9,34 against US$ 9 for 50ft K40 (Witter price, buying 1000ft and reloud it yourself). If the Ektachrome emulsion is ok for you, take it and dont stress yourself with loading 20 cartridges in the dark room :ph34r: You can use the FrameMaster with any cartridge (as i know), but not with the russian one with another metal pressure-plate inside. greetings, André Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
