rob spence
hi, I want to do digi beta editing, I have the last and best of the apple G4s. It is a dual 1.42 with 2 gig of ram. I also use Final Cut pro 5.1. What video card do I need to capture digi beta? Many thanks rob spence
Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 29, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 29, 2008 Something like this, assuming you have a digibeta deck with SDI output (which you should) http://blackmagic-design.com/products/sd/ P

Premium Member Phil Rhodes Posted January 29, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted January 29, 2008 Just old Decklinks, I assume. I don't know what slots the G5s had in them - you'll probably want to ensure it goes in something more than a basic PCI slot so as to have a healthy safety margin on bandwidth. AJA have a line but I'm not so familiar with it. P
Premium Member David Auner aac Posted February 1, 2008 Premium Member Share Posted February 1, 2008 Hi Rob, try to get a Blackmagic Decklink SD used, Some people I know are selling them to switch to HD cards. I have a PCI-X Decklink, the newer ones are PCI-E mostly. You need at least a PCI-X slot for them to function, though since PCI-X is backwards compatible one could try a 64bit PCI too, but I am not sure whether this would work or damage the card. Cheers, Dave
