Andrew Armentrout Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I'm in the market for a good HD camera and was wondering what I would need to buy besides the red one body in order to use it for any basic filmmaking needs such as lenses and accessories. What price range would I be looking at with all these things included?
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted April 21, 2010 Premium Member Posted April 21, 2010 Around 30K for a package I'd say. You'll need Body (17500) Batteries (1450 ish) Charger Media Module (CF Card) (500) A good number of CF Cards (500 or so EACH) Lens Set Or good Zoom (Varies) Tripod Monitor or EVF or both check red.com for the most current prices. you'll also need some kind of mobile solution to offload the footage, such as a laptop and good hard drives, though your best bet would be a dedicated desktop box with RAID array on a cart to trolly 'round with.
K Borowski Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Or maybe wait a while longer and get it on the used market. . . I'm sure those prices'll come down.

What price range would I be looking at with all these things included? This was a fluid question when the RED ONE was new, but now that so many accessories are being sold on Ebay, it's an even tougher situation. I'd suggest getting a handle on all the accessories, and how you want to build out the camera, then start hitting the Ebays, blogs and yes even (Don't hit me) Reduser since they are going to move a lot of stuff on there as well. I think there's even a classified section. Jay K I hope this helps!
Brian Hulnick Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 I never realized they were so expensive, still you pay for quality I suppose.
