Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 20, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted November 20, 2014 I've been using my trusty Sekonic Studio Deluxe for ages now. But I think it's time to upgrade, so I was wondering if any of you have used or own the Sekonic Litemaster Pro L-478D. Pros? Cons? Thanks!
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted November 20, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted November 20, 2014 I'd probably go 758-Cine, honestly. That touch screen is asking to break.
Premium Member Kieran Scannell Posted November 20, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted November 20, 2014 I have the 758-Cine but rarely use it these days, sometimes the spot meter. If you have an iphone check out the Cine Meter ll App. You will be surprised how accurate and simple it is to use and I think it's about $7! Gregg MacPherson
I've got one of the later analogue Pentax spotmeters, a Minolta V and a Sekonic Studio delux just like Bill. The Sekonic is a backup, like some old guys used to have a Weston. They don't all perfectly agree, not realy a problem. Not used in anger since 1995 but still good. I don't think having two meters on your belt is a problem. Maybe it's a good way to do it. Edited November 21, 2014 by Gregg MacPherson
Gregg MacPherson
Actually I have a Weston meter too (laugh commentary).
Premium Member Bill DiPietra Posted November 21, 2014 Author Premium Member Share Posted November 21, 2014 The 758 looks very nice, but I just can't afford that right now (especially when I have a reliable analog meter.) I guess I'll stick with my Sekonic for now. Thanks for the responses, everyone.
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted November 21, 2014 Premium Member Share Posted November 21, 2014 There is an older sekonic spot meter/incident meter out there, which I also use, the L408, which I don't mind at all. Maybe able to find a nice used one.
John E Clark
Actually I have a Weston meter too (laugh commentary). I sold mine and bought a Luna Pilot... which I sold and bought a Honeywell/Pentax spot... which the Wife lost... I eventually bought the Minolta Spotmeter F, which I still have. When I started taking moving pictures I eventually bought a Sekonic L-308dc because it had a direct footcandle read out, and that assisted in understanding lighting given in FC vs eventual exposure settings. The Wife preferred the Luna Pro, but after loosing one, running over another with the car, she let me be the 'meter reader' with my Minolta...
