Mi Ki Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 Maybe stupid newbie question, but thank for the answer :)
Brian Drysdale Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 25fps is the current standard for European television. Theatrical is 24 fps.
Mi Ki Posted August 14, 2015 Author Posted August 14, 2015 So all european movies needs to be coverted to 25 fps for TV and Blu-ray/DVD?
Brian Drysdale Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 It depends if they're mainly made for television. They commomly just transmit at 25 fps rather than convert as such, they may do a pitch shift for the sound.
Premium Member Tyler Purcell Posted August 17, 2015 Premium Member Posted August 17, 2015 On HD, 24, 25, 30 are acceptable world wide, the player does the conversion as the color standard is the same. On SD, 24 is acceptable world wide (the player does the conversion if necessary), but 25 is PAL color only and 30 is NTSC color only.
Brian Drysdale Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 European broadcast HD TV productions are shot at 25 fps, what happens for distribution aterwards is another matter.
Freya Black Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 As far as DVD goes a Region 0 NTSC DVD can be played worldwide without issue. The player just handles it. Obviously it's lower res than a PAL DVD however (480p vs 576p) Freya
