Mathew Collins
Hi, Is there any distance measurement equipment available to help focus puller to know the distance to subject? Please share your inputs. -Mathew Collins.
Stuart Brereton
Focus pullers use equipment such as the Cine-Tape system, and Laser rangefinders, but the simplest method is a tape measure..
Premium Member Adrian Sierkowski Posted July 3, 2017 Premium Member Share Posted July 3, 2017 Also the really good 1sts can pretty accurately judge distance just by experience and watching the subject.
Mathew Collins
Is the following one a Laser rangefinder? http://www.amazon.in/Bosch-GLM-Laser-Rangefinder-Blue/dp/B0033RU8MM?tag=googinhydr18418-21&tag=googinkenshoo-21&ascsubtag=ac6fa0f8-c4a8-4b29-97f3-5cc9d71571a9 http://www.amazon.in/Bosch-DLE-Laser-Rangefinder-Blue/dp/B002LJF7YM?tag=googinhydr18418-21 Edited July 4, 2017 by Mathew Collins
Stuart Brereton
Yes. Another popular brand is the Leica Disto.
Justin P Levene
Use a Disto, the laser ones are more accurate, but more expensive. If you are going to use it outside, make sure you get one with a bigger range as they are more powerful and work better in sunlight. Ultra-sonic ones are far cheaper, have a lower distance range, however they work in all brightness conditions, so sunlight doesn't effect them. If you need mm perfect, go laser, if you need to the nearest few inches, go with a ultra-sonic one. Edited July 5, 2017 by Justin P Levene

Gregg MacPherson
Mathew, I don't know these modern range finder devices at all, but they all have to obey the functions of physics. Any device that sends it's own electro magnetic fluctuation will be unaffected by the lighting level. When one thinks about it, this is just common sense. So one could learn about these things oneself...have a go...google, or books...then this may lead to better and more interesting questions.
