  1. Thanks, I love the way this looks! I look forward to finding out more about the making of it.
  2. I watched JUMANJI: WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE the other day and I think that movie kinda nailed it. The kids were modern day BREAKFAST CLUB counterparts minus Judd Nelson. I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.
  3. The guy definitely left his mark on the landscape. I wonder what kind of teen movies he'd make now that most teens spend most of their time looking at phones. You can hear John Hughes' lost commentary on FERRIS BUELLER over here: http://screencrush.com/ferris-bueller-audio-commentary/ If I'm not wrong this is the only time he's ever recorded such a thing.
  4. Both my NPRs were serviced by Bernie and converted to U16. He's an amazing asset to the community and wonderful person to talk to. But shipping does add up.
  5. I hated the CGI space battle camerawork in the Battlestar Galactica remake, all those shaky zoom-in shots and rack focusing. Then they copied that in STAR TREK NEW VOYAGES (which has awful cinematography throughout, especially compared to STAR TREK CONTINUES) and it was a turn-off.
  6. It's not likely you will see this, Adrian, but I hope everything will turn out okay for you, and if you are going through tough times, just know you have plenty of friends here, for what it's worth. Best wishes and get well soon. :-/
  7. It's a sad world that we live in, when the film capital of the Western world only has two technicians left. :-/
  8. "Feud" was great. There was one shot where they managed to replicate color film so well I'm actually wondering how they did it, in the scene where Frank Sinatra and Robert Aldrich are clashing during the making of "4 for Texas".
  9. Finally! With some luck we should have 16mm by 2020!
  10. I have one for $3000. Eclair NPR Ultra 16. Serviced by Bernie of Super16 Inc in NY last November. I need to list that thing soon. Selling at a big loss...but need the money.
  11. This kids' Youtube show is shot with the Ursa Mini 4K and Angenieux 25-250. Unfortunately I don't own any other PL lenses.
  12. There was a need for a lot of green screen compositing which would have looked bad in 1080p.
  13. Ugh that is painful. But, I do love the colour science and footage I see from the C200. I went through this problem last year. I ended up not buying anything as a main camera and made no progress as a filmmaker. Renting cameras would never work for me because of the sporadic nature of my productions (mostly due to the Seattle weather). What I want to try and do this year is concentrate on the writing aspect of my films. I have about five feature film ideas that I never seem to have time to finish writing. Worst case scenario, I'll shoot the movie on my BMD Ursa Mini 4K with only an Angenieux 25-250. You know, last year I shot some test footage and my favourite images came from my BMPCC. Looked a lot like S16. But I imagine it wouldn't look great blown up to a movie screen.
  14. It's a year later and the project didn't happen. The Arri 2C was sold and I still have both the U16 NPR's. I'm actually thinking of selling one of them to help fund my purchase of a Canon C200. Lessons learned? As much as I love film, it was overly ambitious to try and produce that particular movie on film on a $26,000 budget in a place where there are only 67 days of sunshine a year, when the script says "EXT. - DAY" on nearly every scene. If I could send myself a message back in time I'd tell myself to just buy the C200 already and save film for the next project. Especially when I shot some location test footage with the actors on my BMPCC and digital didn't look near as bad as I thought it would. The BMPCC looked pretty amazing, very close to S16 after grading and filmconvert. JUST WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!!
  15. I'm not sure it will ever really be out of date, unless 8K as a new standard really happens. So it doesn't have a 10-bit codec, I know, but transcoding is something that's just going to start getting faster and faster. Where I think the C200 has a problem is in its pricing. I don't see Canon making it cheaper any time soon. I'm not sure that the price is fair, even though the camera would be one I'd likely use for 20 years.
  16. I'm glad I'll be buried at sea. I'll be even happier if that can wait some 50 years or so.
  17. I doubt there will any repercussions at all, especially if the film is in the can.
  18. Looks like the delivery date got pushed back to October 5. Imagine that...
  19.     I just looked up what that is, haha! That sounds like great fun to film.
  20. So our landlord from 2009 told us he'll rent to us in Hollywood again. But now I've just found out that we might need to stay in WA a little longer to keep using our health insurance. It's not good that things aren't quite lining up. If we stay we'll lose that chance to rent in L.A.. Man that sucks.
