  2. Another article http://www.variety.com/article/VR111795548...yid=13&cs=1 I don't get it ...really... "As director of photography, Laurent Chalet did a very good job in difficult conditions, but that doesn't qualify him for a director's credit," Darondeau said Monday. "The director has the idea, the point of view, tells a story and has the final cut. It is a very different job.".... Doesn't qualify ????, imagine someone give you the "instructions " to shoot a lot of footage that's the original idea... alone 13 moths by your own in the atlantic... wow i believe somewhere in this process you have to put your ideas, visions, point of you...etc, do you???

  7. Hi Stephen: I think using 3D pre visualization help you to think and imagine what you want, obviously depends the project what you do..., you can illuminated, choose lights, and put the camera what ever you want, test movements, test lights, sometimes test textures, colors and make test (previews) with actors and lights. Remember is a pre visualizations perhaps when you arrive the set somethings changes... I use Cinema 4D to make my pre visualizations, i not to handle all the functions of the program but i'm ok with basics concepts... Storyboards always is a good tool for everyone, any tool that you have and you can use it helped you to obtain your goal. Hope helps

  16. hi Well, the first time when i wanna be a dop, first i start to see the things different, i don't mean IT like a cliche, i try to transform my eyes and my mind like a camera, then little by little i learn to see and feel the lights, the changes, the temperatures, intensity, differents ambients, moods in all places, day, night, sunset, sunrise, darkness, hightlights... then when the time pass start to develop a INSTINTC when you play with lights.... Of course you have to try and make all the projects as you can (flight hours like a pilot) well you probably have to make good and bad projects, always use them like a stairs and keep it with the good things... Probably in any moment you want to move to other country and search a big market like US or UK, personaly i recommend if you wanna make film and shoot a lot maybe India or China (of course language  )... well probably US and UK are more comfortable any way good luck and welcome ps: i think you start very good because receive advices from DoP like David Mullen and Claudio Miranda... WOW :D

  22. Hi brandon: Nice work, love it, i like too much the mood you reach, congratulatios, i only have two questions: 1.- I assume you shot in HD, probably Varicam or CineAlta 4:4:4 i guess..., what lenses you use...? and where you color correct...??, Telecine??? (Da vinci) 2.- Tell us more about the ilumination in the bar scenes..., love it Thanks and good luck Xavier Plaza Director of Photography In spanish: Muy buen trabajo, me encanto el mood de lo que vi, felicitaciones, solo tengo dos preguntas: 1 asumo que lo hiciste en HD probablemnete Varicam o CineAlta 4:4:4 supongo, con que lentes trabajaste y donde corregiste el color, en telecine ( da vinci) 2.- cuentanos un poco mas de la iluminacion del bar verdaderamente me encanto Gracias y suerte Xavier Plaza Director de fotografia
  23. Hi Mark: i use the sony HVRV1u for the last year, for me the camara only is useful in exteriors, if you want to use in interiors you have to have a lot of lights because his ASA rounds 160... the camera have rich blacks and the big plus in this camera have a wide range in highlights or overexposure shots... the worse thing is the lens range, you used in tele (or zoom in) if you don't have too much light the camera underexpose your shot... if you use gain +DB you can "make" more sensitive your camera even +6db and you dont see a lot of noise ( make your own test)... So the price is low, depending your project, budget and requirements the camera can make good or bad... my opinion is i don't like it, because when you have tough situations in locations the camera don't satisfy you... Check next level...
