  1. The original 25M-8M motor of Konvas-1 can run of camera with 200 ft and 400 ft film magazines. I do not know any ideas about install of any other type of DC motor on body of 25M-8M motor. The DC motor must have high power, near 30..50 W. May be, need take of motor block of 18EP-16 APK, 5BDS of Konvas-2M camera, ( the motor block included DPR-72 DC motor, reducer and taxo ) to install on body of Konvas-1 and, I can install of crystal sync speed conrtoller on this system.
  2. As for me, I will think about second ( B ) video camera at tripod ( or " B" cameraman )with shooting of medium shot and general plan with sync sound recoding of all time of ceremony. You can use of a few microphones with sound mixer or sound mixing desk. Any case, you will need sound track of full ceremony and use of any fragment.
  3. I upgrade of many type of DC motors of cine cameras on crystal sync speed. Give me more technical inforation about your motor, pictures ( on personal e-mail ). What kinds of type of motor ? The motor have any feed back ? digital, optical, analog, taxo ? What kinds of camera you will use ? You have any mechanical parametetrs and characteristics of camera ? P.S The Micropower Phase-Locked loop chip 4046 - the design of past century. Yes, this is very good chip and can be use, but, the procedure of signal conversion of chip included many procedures of calculation of analog quantity. The modern algorithm of PID speed control inclued more wide rate of parameters and data and have more high accuracy of control. This is like, if i will compare of compact calculator and modern Personal computer. Any case, this is my personal opinion and personal experience of research.
  4. Konvas-1 camera ( KSR-1, KSR-1M ) created a many years ago and motor building industry do not had a many types of DC motor for drive of camera. The other questions - the version of speed control of camera drive. And this must be trusted device. The designer of Konvas build of 25M-8M drive. 25M-8M drive included of DC motor with stator and rotor windings. This type of DC motor can control of speed of rotation of axis by control of current of stator or rotor windings. And designer choose of current type of speed control by rheostat with hand control. The camera ask of high torsion torque and ask of high power of DC motor (25..30W ). From other side, we do not have many types of compact accumulators at time of building of Konvas-1 camera and designers choose of battery from 5 pcs of silver-zinc cell SC-25, 25ah. 25M-8M drive ask of 8 v or 6 v power source and have two version of winding and rheostat connections. About technical peculiarity. Konvas-1 had multi type of drive and had : - mechanical, spring drive, - single shooting crank drive, - normal speed crank drive, - electrical motor drive. That's why, the desin of mechanism of camera have additional reducer for hand crank rotation with normal speed shooting, have special stopping mechnaism for spring drive. If we compare of next version of Konvas cameras ( Konvas-1M, 2M ) and next generation of Konvas motors ( 15EPSS, 17EP-16 APK... ) we can see, Konvas-1 camera have other type of connection of axis of mechanism with axis of reducer of motor and other type of motor mount. Yes, of course, If you create of special part for connect of 12 v motors with axis of Konvas-1 camera and part of body of reducer with view of Konvas-1 motor mount, you can attach of 12 v motor with Konvas-1 camera. But, this can be complex project of upgrade. From other side, the plastic mirror disks of Konvas-1 camera rare now and you can have problem at searching of spare shutter disks. Konvas-1 do not have a possiblity of adjust of position of shutter disk, because, this procedure do at factory only and do not adjust at time of use of camera. Konvas-1 mechanism have ball bearings and have more high value of noise from Konvas 1M,2M mechanisms with friction bearings. After you study of all trhis ideas more detailed, you can think, you need upgrade of 12 v motors for Konvas-1 or can be better If you take of Konvas-1M, 2M body ? As my opinion, the DC motors with stator and rotor windings ask of current control and do not compatible with modern pulse-width modulation of proportional, integral, derivative speed control. I hear about a few projects of analog systems of speed stabilization of 25M-8M motors. This was systems without feed back and hand manual adjust of speed only. This was like electronic rheostat speed setting. This systems build on old high power germanium transistor, ask of high power radiator and lost a some part of power of battery. I will be glad, to discuss of any opinion about building of speed control systems of 25M-8M drive. The great result at modern pulse-width modulation of proportional, integral, derivative speed control had DC motors with permanent magnet and hollow armature ( without magnetic circuit of rotor ). This is type of DC motor ( like of russian DPR motos ) have very small inertia of rotor, have less self-induction. Yes, This is true. The Konvas-1M, 2M version of conenction of axis of mechnaism with axis of motor ( slotted notch with ribber tubes) have more stable connection. And this very important for any automatic system of speed stabilization. Because, the motor have two side of control : to increase of speed and braking. The the sloped cog of connection of mechanism and motor of Konvas-1 have one side toothing only and can increase of speed only. At mode of breaking the sloped cog will turning without cohesion. The sloped cog work like one side free-wheel clutch. About 400 ft magazines. If you have Moskinap made version of Konvas-1 camera, 400 ft magazines of Konvas-1M, 2M cameras must be full comatible with your camera. If you have KMZ made Konvas-1, sorry, this do not compatible and 400 ft magaziones super rare. About upgrade of Konvas-1 on crystal sync speed, we can have two version: - upgrade of axis of mechanism, motor mount for attach of crystal sync speeds motor of Konvas 1M, 2M cameras or - upgrade of mechanical speed stabilizator device of Konvas-1. If you install of modern DC motor with feed back on hole of speed stabilizer and install of gear on axis of motor, you can run of mechnaism. All of this projects of upgrade can be complex.

  8. Hi. The many users of Konvas-1M, Konvas-2M cameras have 15 EPSS motors. The original electronics of 15EPSS motor have analog system of speed stabilization with power unit and 8.5 v battery. I wish inform you about last version of upgrade of power unit of 15EPSS motor on 6 v battery. The many users ask me about use of 12 v batteries. I wish warn of, the 12 v battery can burn down of original electronics of power unit. This can be at time of first connecting of 12 v battery and switch of speed on 25 red, or 32 fps, or after a some time of work. I repair of many power units after user connected of 12 v battery and can do a some summarizing. The matter is that, the base generator of power unit with 12 v battery have output 100 v, and power transformer have output 78 v. This is too high voltage for many transistors of power unit. The transistors of power unit have maximum voltage 60v( output stage ) and 40 v ( other). That's why, this is transistors can burn down. The power unit have high power 60v, 10 A, germanium transistors with low loss at P-N-P structure. . That's why, the idea of modification of original electronics of power unit for modern batteries- the topical question . Today, I wish inform about next version of upgrade of original electronics for 6 v battery. SLA battery 6 v 12ah, with size 152 x 94 x 50 mm can be install inside of power unit without problem. The new version have build in of power unit auto charger with microprocessor control and digital voltmeter of voltage of battery. The auto charger have DC input with 12?18 v, min 2A , with standard 4 pin XLR socket and can be connect with any type of power source. This can be AC-DC power source with output 12..18 v 2A, or special power cord with " car smoke plug " from one side and 4 pin XLR plug from other side. And you can charge of battery of power unit from your car too. From other side, you can use of any standard video, cine power source with 4 pin XLR socket on output The microprocessor of charger control and limiting of output current ( 1.5 A ) and control of output voltage on battery at time of charging. The microprocessor show of voltage at 3 digital LED display And only, the battery charged, the microprocessor show " Ful" and switch OFF of charger. From other side, the microprocessor of charger can be use of test of voltage of battery before shooting. The power unit have additional " test" button and if you press on " test " button, the LED display show you Voltage on battery and you can check of condition of battery. The voltage more 6.33 v ? 100% power of battery 6.2 v = 75% of power 6.1 v = 40% of power 6.0 v = 25% power 5.9 or less = discharger I think, this is version of power unit upgrading can be interested for used of Konvas with 15 EPSS motor.   9. I wish underline, this is my personal opinion only. I do not like to discuss about any political questions of production of Carl Zeiss lenses. I wish told about optical characteristics and question of filmmaking only. I test of many type of cine and photo lenses on optical bench and to draw attention to result of optical test at first, do not on brand name of lens. From other side, i draw attention on real price of this lens now. And As for me, if you think about low budget set of lenses, you need choose of best rate between price and optical quality of lens. That's why, i recommed to draw attention on lenses with Pentacon Six , Kiev-60, Kiev-6 lens mount. This can be russian Jupiter, Kaleynar, Volna, Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar. As for me, i use of this lenses for my personal film shooting too. And the personal style of image of Carl Zeiss Sonnar do not repeat of modern, brand name, cine lenses. I told about Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 180 mm F2.8 last edition with MC. This is lenses have low price on ebay now, that's why, can be very good alternative.
  10. The Hasselblad lenses can be use for film shooting and flange ofcal distance of Hasselblad lenses compatible with PL mount. But. Hasselblad lenses have too high price, that's why do not use at film shooting too much. As for me, I do not know of Hasselblad-PL mount adapter. From other side, The lenses of mediun format photo cameras with Pentacom Six, Kiev-60 lens mount can be use at film shooting. This is lenses, made in Carl Zeiss, USSR, Ukraine, have low price and high optical characteristics. The special series can be Tilt-Shift lenses. If anybody need lens mount adapter for install of lenses with Pentacon Six, Kiev-60, Kiev-6 lens mount on Arri Pl lens mount cameras, let me know. I will inform, where you can buy.

  12. As for me, the profile of original film gate of K-3 don't compatible with S16 upgrade of film gate. After you enlarge of film gate, you receive of two scratchy facets. If you study of original film gate detailed, you can see of recessed trench from sides of film plane.
  13. I can suppose, The mechnaism of aperture control broken and can be problem with control pin. The control pin can be broken or arcuated or lost. But, can be more complex problme, the problme with iris, the broken blades or lost blades. You can see of blades inside lens ? The ring of aperture control turn easy ?
  14. The one way can be to use of lens mount adapter from Pentacom Six medium format photo lenses to OST-19/ Arri PL lens mount. This can be Carl Zeiss Sonnar 300 mm and 600 mm lenses. Or Jupiter-36 250 mm with 2xconverter. The very good choose - The original LOMO cine lens 35 OKS-2-1000-1, 1000 mm F6.3 This lens have 2x teleconverter at rear side and have 500 mm F3.2 without converter.
  15. Konvas-1M ( 1KSR-1M ), Konvas-2M ( 1KSR-2M ) cameras have viewfinder with variable position. But, the viewfinder don't have automatic system of change of position of mask of viewfinder. The viewfinder can be adjust for left and right eye. The viewfinder have clamp ring. The ring set between body and viewfinder. If you wish change of position of viewfinder, you need turn a clamp ring a some, ( release a lock ), to change of position of viewfinder and to grip a ring. The second ring, after of prism, to control of position of mask. You need adjust of position of mask. The vertical position of viewfinder have a some uncomfortable position of groud glass, about position of camera. The viewfinder don't have mobile prism for change of position of ground glass. But, a some practical training and all will OK. The viewfinder can lost of correct position of mirror inside and if you change position of viewfinder for left and right eye, the ground glass can go out of viewfinder. This is problem can be remove at service only with adjust of viewfinder with special tools.
  16. The lens can have dry lube on main multiple-thread screw and other parts and dry lube can give you additional gaps. The re-lube of lens can be good idea too.
  17. As for my experience of service of anamorphic lenses, I think, you need Super 8 camera with free focus lens, adjusted on " infinity". I recommend to check of russian Quarz 1x8S-2. This is cine camera with front zoom attachment, C-mount screw on front side of body and free focus 12.5 mm prime lens inside of body. The prime lens have aperture manual and auto control. The camera have spring motor and use of "silent" Super 8 cartridges. The front zoom attachment have screw for filters SPM46 x 0.75 mm. Other idea - russian Super 8 Avrora-218, this is cine camera with electrical motor, and free focus 12.5 mm lens. The front anamorphic adapters can be from russian square front glass NAS lenses.
  18. We use of russian LOMO anamorphic with diopters. The Square front glass LOMO anamorphic lenses have additional scale . We focusing of a round anamorphic LOMO lens with close-up dipters by ground glass of camera and to glue a tape on focus ring and set of marks of distance of focusing with diopters. The procedure of setup new distance marks will have better result with autocollimator. But, russian autocollimators have minimum distance 1.0m. The less distance of focusing need adjust with camera by ground glass.
  19. If this from side of base, I think, the longitudinal scratch - can be from leber of film counter or pressure plate of film gate. The middle scratch - from plastic parts of post , what have of spring for press on pressure plate from side of cog's wheel. You can compare of version of post of Krasnogrosk-1 and Kranosgorsk-3 cameras.
  20. I don't have 12-120 mm zoom lens on my hand now, but, in accord of draft from user manual, the body of rear optical component have outside screw with small diameter. ( If need, I can send picture ). This screw can be technological or may be designer think to use of special holder for rear filter. From other side, if you will use of additional optical rear adapters ( anamorphic and tele ), the user manual show of lvery small distance between rear glass of zoom lens and front glass of adapters. That's why, you must be careful. If you will use of 12-120 mm zoom lens without additional adapters, i think, you can build of personal holder for thin gelatin filters and use with lens. The important - the filter not must touch of glass of lens. As for me, i recommed to setup of screw or holder inside of rear mount part of lens ( removable part with lens mount ).
  21. The scratching from side of emulsion ? If we have scratches from emulsion side. The longitudinal scratch - i think, need check of film gate detailed, and re-polishing. The middle scratch - can be - big size of upper loop. The upper loop must be small. And need check of condition and position of plates between small rollers round of cog's wheel.
  22. The set of Kinor-35 H lenses have 22 mm and 28 mm lenses. You can have of Konvas version of body of lens with " lead" at rear side of lens. This lens can be not compatible with Kinor-35, because have big size pf parts from rear side of lens. I recomed you to build of profile of surface of inside of Kinor and check with rear profile of your lens. I can help you to do this. Or send me picture of your lens. The next, need check of distance between rear glass of lens and plane of film. Kinor-35H limit of this distance on 18.5 mm, Konvas have limit 13.5 mm.
  23. P.S The many guys can have old Super 8/ Normal 8 films and can wish to show again and to show of friends. I think, you can open of small show room for show of private films. And can propose of telecine service of old films at personal order.
  24. Can be good idea to propose to visitor a special service, to shoot of personal film and show on projector ? The special cameraman can shoot of visitors, who wish order of this service, and show on next day. Or, the visitors can rent of camera, to shoot personal film and to show on next day . I think, this is additional service can to attract attention on Super 8 filming too.

LOMO OKS, OST-19 lenses of Kinor-35 H style have gear with outside diameter 97 mm and step between cogs - 1.5 mm LOMO OKS OST-19 lenses of Konvas style have gear with outside diameter 97.5 mm and step 2.5 mm What kinds of diameters and steps have of other type of lenses and follow focus systems ? If the anybody need of change of type of gear on lenses ? or need install of gear on lens ? Let me know. How about gears of LOMO anamorphic BAS lenses ? Need ?
