  1. Does this mean that non-film movie cameras will finally be able to record red lights without them turning white and/or pink? Current digital nighttime street shots are already looking dated. Any word on shipping dates or price?
  2. http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/focus_features/moonrisekingdom/ One of our few master filmmakers. Didn't know it was 16mm until someone mentioned it today.
  3. Trailer is now out. http://www.barakasamsara.com/
  4. The blatant copying of David from "AI" seems a little odd. Working link below.
  5. Nice "British Cinematographer" piece: The Dark Knight Rises: Wally Pfister ASC for Chris Nolan http://www.thecinematographer.info/articles/183-the-dark-knight-rises-wally-pfister-asc-for-chris-nolan.html
  6. Don't bother with homemade junk that doesn't work, call these guys up and have a real barney made. http://www.customupholsteryproducts.com/index.html
  7. For me Barry Lyndon has always been one of the best examples of well thought-out handheld camera use. Can you even recall it having any? It does and it's perfectly (big surprise) executed there.

  9. No penalties here. HD 1080p VOD all day long. Time Warner is running cable internet ads, right now, boasting as a feature "better VOD performance", etc. By the time 4K VOD comes along, other schemes will land into place to keep up. This all evolves every week, like it or not. It's "Broken record" time it looks like.
  10. I have a 6-roll package for sale from Pro8. It includes 6 rolls of new Kodak stock (200T I think) and includes processing and HD scan to hard drive. $385 shipped in the lower 48.
  11. Wow, a CRT TV; didn't know any were still active. I'm guessing: 4:3 video, put into an HD (16:9) format, pillared, for wide HD broadcast, then letter-boxed regionally for SD broadcast instead. It's a shame what is happening these days with some shows and especially movies. So much stretching to fit HD TV's, or pillar boxing, or this, just because a few people are still using the old stuff. Hopefully we will see the end of this someday very soon. 16:9 TV's are the majority now.
  12. You are finished before you even start with these lists. Add "AC" and "AD" to essential people, for starters. A feature production, where a schedule and quality matter, needs what it needs.
  13. Watch "My dinner with Andre". All but maybe 8 minutes is set at a dinner table. Great ending too.
  14. VOD already is the TV of the present. Most TV's/TV devices have connectivity built in now. Some form of VOD will continue to rise as the new standard, along with cloud storage/sharing of media and take over for the most part. For those who don't know what's happening in the media consumption world, people (myself included) are already getting close or same-as Bluray quality on streaming TV's now. Next year I bet it will be even better. It will go to 4K at some point, of course, and so on. I hope I can keep buying Blu/Red/Green-rays too, same with film stocks, for a long time to come but it will all become more of a specialty item too soon I think.
  15. Was on a 7D used for stills on set, not used much but the front element was nicked a little. It doesn't really affect the images at all but since it has that issue, I'll take $325 shipped (within the lower 48 states) Was something like $700 new I believe.
  16. What's it all for? An SLR with a fast 17-50 is about all you'll want to deal with (or even less) after the first day or two of hopping planes, trains and buses. Take in the places and people. Too many people distance themselves from what is going on right in front of them by pulling out some stupid camera.... unless you are talking about some paid project here.
  17. You are trying to achieve what a several million dollar budget, pro art/wardrobe departments, pro DP using film cameras and a professional colorist did. You can't do the same thing, or even close, with a program on your home computer.
  18. Hey thanks for asking but no, no news yet. For non-studio supported films this stuff takes so much longer than anyone can imagine, on top of being always unknown until the last minute. We already played a few times near SF in San Jose at Cinequest. We are working on getting a spot in or near the LA area right now and I doubt if it will make it back up your way, unfortunately.
